Well, I decided to not tempt fate any longer for my LP life. At 103,000 I disconnected the factory original LP and filter and hooked up the FASS. :) All I can say, is :D :D , the truck seems to acellerate allot smoother. My EGT's are down about 25 deg while cruising at 60mph back and forth to work.

I made one modification to the system though. The connection supplied for the VP hook up looked to be rather small in diameter. I drilled it out to 5/16 for better volume and flow. The throttle response is very nice. Fuel pressure is a solid 12 psi under all conditions.

Getting the system primed was the hardest part. Two quarts of Power Service into the filters prior to install and the line charged right up with a 8ft arc of fuel out the end into the shop. :D This thing can push the fuel.

I removed the original factory supply line and will finish removing the factory filter housing and LP the weekend. :D :D

This FASS unit was well worth the investment. I am amazed the the old LP lasted this long. Next step is to plot the mileage numbers over the next month and see where it takes us.

I have been wondering how these systems are working out. Is there anyone else whom has first impressions of the FASS ?Sounds like it will be a good investment. :) Don

Mine is going on thursday, so I'll be able to give you my first impressions by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to it, as well as the DD HX40 and Drag Comp.

Chris

I love mine, got about 7k on it and there has been no problems. It solved my running out of fuel at the end of the pulling track problem:) Still havent put the fp guage on yet:confused:

Very soon!!

My stock LP is still kickin... just don't have any idea for how long!

I 'm looking to add the FASS system, upgraded fule lines and the Transfer Flow 60 gallon OEM replacement tank at the same time.

Definately before next summers vacation trip!

Two thumbs up here. Idle pressure at 15. 5 and on 5x5 WOT never pulls it below 14. Great system, neat looking too. Definatley would buy one again. :)

I absolutely love my FASS system. I no longer have any fuel starvation problems and the performance is more than I expected!

Well my mileage numbers are up. This last weekend I went over to Idaho and back. The route was from Portland, Oregon to Umitilla, Oregon, Wallwalla, Washington over Lolo pass to Lolo Montanna and then over Lostrail pass to Salmon, Idaho. Last time I did this trip (pre-FASS) I got 21. 3 mpg. This time I got 22. 78 mpg. :) The worries about loosing a lift pump are gone also.

Well, i've had the FASS on for a few days now, and like everything about it so far. Idle fp is 17psi, can't get it below 15 no matter what i do. Truck definitely idles smoother, which in all honesty i didn't expect. Can't say if the mileage is any better yet. I changed turbos, and upgraded the comp to drag comp at the same time, so needless to say i've been playing way too much with the new power.

Soon as i start driving "normal" again, i'll let everyone know how my mileage has been affected.

Later,

Chris

I got my FASS system is on and running good. One question though i am only seeing 10psi is this right or is my sending unit off.

Mundgyver:

Thanks for the impressions, I have two questions. I know the FASS has a filter did you bypass the stock fuel filter and feed the VP direct from the FASS unit and do you have any pictures of it on the truck?

thanks,

Zach

Cummins4Life,

I completely bypassed the stock filter unit. I took the FASS VP fuel fitting that plugs in where the banjo bolt went and drilled it out to the size of the inlet diameter on the flair side of the fitting. Approx 3/8 ID. This was done to get rid of the restrictive inlet orifice.

I do not have any pictures of the install but I can barrow a digital camera from a friend and see if I can post them. I will see if I can get some pics this week.

Ive had my unit on for a little over a month asnd love it. I have run into one problem. When I leave my truck running and fuel it up, it spits diesel fuel back at me. Doesn't happen when I turn the truck off and fill. I think since we are tapping into the filler vent, when the truck is running it doesn't allow the neck to vent properly (except to "vent" diesel back out). I never had this problem before so I am pretty confident it has to do with my FASS system. I'd be curious if any other members have had a similar problem.

Mundgyver: Thanks for the response, I'm looking forward to the pictures. I have one other question. Does the FASS have a heating element? I remember it is setup to have engine coolant run through it to keep it warm did you do that? Or is it just easier to use a fuel additive with anti-gel properties?

Thanks,

Zach

There is no heating element, it just uses the coolant or oil flow from the engine. I did not hook that part up. Doing some research on VP temp requirements before hooking in that section. I run allot of power service additive

Brad told me the FASS does have a heating element, but most poeple doe not hook it up

This is a subjective thing to me. The heating element as in stand alone would be the wrong idea in my mind.

But if you look at the FASS's ability to be hooked up either an oil line, to use the oil as a heat source or the engine coolant line as a heat source, then the answer would be yes it does have a heating element.
