II SPS 62 Help

Well the ol' FASS electric motor took a dump on me today. I checked the fuse. I cleaned both + and - terminals real good on the battery. I even did the tap it with a hammer trick. Oh yea, i changed the brushes less than a month ago. I just got done removing the old motor from the FASS assembly, and i am picking up a new one tomarrow morning. Is the new style motor a simple bolt right back up, or is there a difference from the one i just took off? 4 bolt holes and a fixed key to line it up? I can't imagine there is a difference, but i also can't believe the motor failed in less than 3 years and less than 40,000 miles:mad: :mad: .

can anyone think of any problems i might run into?

I know what you mean that suck's. :{

Sorry but I gotta chime up a sec,

I Love the posts that follow someone who has a fass question. :rolleyes: The only reason some chime in that have absolutly NOTHING to do with a fass whatsoever is that they read about problems. Why is it "This seems to be a common occurrence for the Fass pumps"? It's human nature to complain and those are the posts that you see on the boards.

How many "Help my vp44 is dead!" or "Man my trackbar has so much slop in it what do I do!". Better yet "KDP and cracked block threads" But nobody attacks those posts because it was from the factory and factory is god. The minute a vendor puts in alot of time with R&D and puts together something in package form and sells it to the public and something goes awrai ... ... It's crap , garbage , too much $$.

[/chime]

My fass has been dead nuts fine scince the parking lot install out at Muncie 3 years ago and 60K later. So JMachemer, to maybee help answer your question, I seem to remember that the "New" pumps have a need for "New/Better billet hanging bracket needed for HPFP install". I have been wondering the same thing in which YOU are going to do it looks like.

i got it on

well i picked up the new motor this morning. and later today, after i got everything else done around the house, i worked on my truck.

It took me less than one hour to mount the new motor, mount the FASS back on the frame rail ( it was a good time to clean, check, and touch up paint too ), hook up the wire harness and hoses, fillters and cross my fingers. Guess what? It workedOo. Oo. It was a great relief to hear the little electric motor hummin' away. It took a few tries to get the BIG BLUE DODGE to fire up. I let it idle and checked for leaks. Drove it around the neighborhood a few times. Double checked for leaks. And then took it for a nice saturday evening cruise. No glitches. For some reason though it still belches black smoke when i pour the chilli to it - maybe its supposed to:D

anyway, i have only had one bad thing to say about the FASS. And hopefully it is fixed now, but i have a warranty for 4 years just to cover my a**. I am pretty sure i would buy another FASS system if i did it again. If it was such a bad pump, why are all the major vendors still selling them? It is just like anything else, there is bound to be some kind of flaw - Ford or Chevy for instance
