question on FASS

I have two FASS 150 GPH pumps; one installed in 2004 on my 02 Ram and one still new in the box that I won also in 2004 at an event. Other than a rare (every 6 mos) pressure flux that lasts a few days of dropping from normal 15 psi down to 10 psi and back up. Ever hear of this problem?



Not sure I'm gonna upgrade the one running. I sealed the brushes. Pressure flux could be rare ground issue form ECM? The unopened one I'm going to install on my wifes 03. Do you feel these need the upgrades?



Finally, on your website I saw 150 GPH is recommended on motors above 600 hp. I'm at 400hp. Is this a problem?

Well I don’t think the pressure flux would be related to the motor honestly. Not something we see. NOW with the older motors, a corroded brush connection or loose brush cap can make the motor drag. BUT usually hard statrs on the FASS motor are common when you have intermittent connections.



Outside temp and elevation can make the pressure flux up and down as high as 2 psi that i have seen on my kit. Take into account a % of gauge error; I feel that might have more to do with what you are seeing. I wouldn’t really worry about it until it drops off below 10 and stays there. THEN, I would first check your gauge to make sure its reading correctly. That is the #1 pressure issue we see up here. Especially with the FASS.



You might pull your brushes and clean the silver caps that are top of the springs, and clean the brush sockets in the motor. Then reseal the cap the same way you said you have done.



I have been running a 150 GPH since 2004... ... no issues at all. SO i dont think you will have any probs. Only thing you MIGHT see is a restrictive pick module in the tank. BUT that is rather rare.



As for your “New in box unit”. I’ll tell you what, Ill PM you some info and we might be able to work something out on this one.
