Check ou the BD Auxliary lift pump on the internet. It is under $500 for pump and installation. It comes as a Kit with everything you need.

What a delema, my guy sells FASS, but I like the sounds of the Air Dog better. Have seen a few guys coming back on him with their FASS with leaking problems. They fix um, no questions ask. . . but the point is. . . they have to fix um. Think I'll pop for the difference. JMHO

Cheers,

Steve J

I'm running 2 Fass units now. Never had a leaking problem yet..... :D

Question, I know you can get replacement filters for the FASS most anywhere, but is a person limited to just the Air Dog filters for replacements? I am sitting on the fence on replacing the liftpump/fuel filter set-up and want to do this right and only once.

Ben

There is a replacement filter available for the AirDog I believe through NAPA, I may be wrong on the place but I know someone carries a replacement. Do a search on AirDog filter and I'm sure the thread with the place and Part number will come up.

Have you considered an Aeromotive set up? You might want to take a look at them at least. Chris Sutton has been running his for longer than any other setup else has even been around. I gave my Fass up for the Aeromotive also.

I wanted to protect my fuel system and injectors caused air entrapment and 5 micron particals so figured I would filter down to 2 micron with the Air Dog system. As most know Air dog under new owners raised it's price to over 1k I did place an order even so I was told there was a 4 wk wait that was over 6wks ago I called was told they redesigned the pump and they would be shipping for aprox another 4 wks.

Question should I look at alternatives or just stick it out and wait? I am stock and plan to stay that way at this time I just wanted to protect system

Thanks Bill

Just put my FASS in this weekend and couldn't be happier. Runs smoother, be it driving or just off idle starts. Plus aside from cutting my back up on the screws that hold the dually tubs on, install was a piece of cake.

Just cancelled my Order

Just canceled my Order for the air dog as I have been waiting for a couple of months heck when I originally ordered they told me 4wk wait. It is bad business to have a customer to just why with no updates. When I called today I was told Oh the would be coming in next week I was not getting any information as to why such a delay from person that answered the phone at Air Dog so I said I would go to there web site before I canceled my order to try to get some kind of information. She said flatly we have shut down are web sites you will not get any information online. I then said no web site Now I am really concerned she said what is your name I figured she would refer me to someone who knew what was going on, I gave my name and she said I will cancel your order. It appears they don't care if they sell their units or not and certainly don't seem to care about their customers.

my 2 cents Now I will look at alternatives or Just drive it and if I have fuel system problems have the dealer just fix it. Gee hear I was willing to spend over a grand for a $500 product and they still don't care if they sell one or not. What a company

Oh I did Order a Bedrug today

Just get the FASS and stop worring about it. Like I said before I'm have 2 trucks with the FASS and would not use anything else... ...

Bill,

I too read all the many threads regarding the issues with FASS such as leaking, having to modify the tank inlet, fuses popping, etc before making a choice and after weighting the pro's and cons, I choose to go with a FASS. I installed mine about three weeks ago and wish I had done it sooner. 15lbs at IDLE... . 15lbs at WOT :D

My girl now idles, throttles up and cruises soooo much smoother. The installation was extremely simple, except that I have a slight seeping at the VP44 pump inlet that I can not figure out.

IMHO and yes everyone has an opinion based on hundreds of reasons either personal or from threads such as these, but I would definitely do it again and strongly recommend this as an excellent replacement to the crap Dodge sold us.

Thanks Git-R-Done... . Just got on line again this morning. RWatson I think the reason some people have problems with leaking and etc. They don't install them the right way. Like I said before. I'm running 2 of these units and have no problems period!!!!

I'm running a FASS on my truck and while i'm happy with its performance while it's working, it has not been very reliable. I personally know two others who are running a fass and theirs haven't been reliable either. I know no one (personally) that has run a FASS for an extended period of time with no problems. That has been my experience, however I certainly believe that there are others who have had good luck with them.

With that said, i don't believe that an electric fuel pump can ever be as reliable as a mechanical one.

I wish the RASP had been around when i was shopping for a "solution" to my fuel problems. If i had to do it again now i would definitely go with the mechanical rasp setup.

Just my opinion.

Chris

My FASS called it quits 3 weeks ago on a trip up to Canada. Lasted 18 months and 20k miles. I wondered how long it would last. Now I know.

To those who are having problems with a failing FASS. Was the pick up tube ever switched out for a 1/2in. Running the stock tube puts alot more strain on the pump thus making more heat which we all know is a bad thing for electronics. The FASS on my last truck had over 100k with no problems. It was put on just as a saftey thing... truck was stock otherwise, but had a 1/2in pickup. I just hate to see, what i feel is a great product, get a bad name because maybe all the nessasary items were not installed

I may be wrong but didn't the FASS come with a 3/8 line? If thats what it comes with then thats what it should work with. I know the 1/2 inch line cuts down on the noise but I doubt it increases pump life. If anything the smaller diameter hose would make life easier on the pump because it requires more suction/power the bigger the hose diameter.

I will keep my fingers crossed on my AirDog, it did come with a 1/2 pickup line and hopefully it will have a long life but nothing is guaranteed... knock on wood.

I read about the 1/2 inch line change. I made that change. But I agree with DHayden. If it should have 1/2" line, then it should come with it. I'm not trying to give the FASS a black eye. A certain number of almost any item will fail. My replacement mechanical pump could fail. But they are only 100 dollars to replace. I have not seen any proof that the air in fuel thing makes any difference.
