What is the Napa # for that 2 micron fuel filter

I like the idea of the NAPA 2 micron fuel filter.

What is the Napa # for that 2 micron fuel filter. Would appreciate it.

It is hard to tell, but most guys say the 1274 is the 2micron, but there are others saying it is a either a 5 or 10micron filter.

The other "2micron" filter is a 1202, but there was only 1 post with that number in it.

I did a lot of searching last night for filters (so I can have a "cross reference" of more than just what DPP sends with the FASS. There is a lot of conflicting information ON THIS SITE!!!!

There is even a Cat filter that is rated at 2 micron... but it is much larger physically and no one had ever really seen if it would fit the FASS mount.

There is even question on whether the FleetGuard "3micron" filter is actually 3 micron... it might be a 10 micron filter also.

I'm going to call DPP and inquire about the filter specs for the CIM-TEK filters.

Don't forget there are 2 ratings that manufacturers use: nominal and absolute. A "2-micron nominal" filter means almost nothing - it just says that "this filter will trap some particles as small as 2-micron". A "2-micron absolute" filter is rated to trap almost everything (98%?) 2-microns and larger.

The best filters are the ones that have ratings like "2-microns at XXX% efficiency". One of the reasons I went with Stanadyne is they actually provide a plot of particle size vs. removal efficiency. Fleetguard also tends to be pretty trustworthy with their ratings.

This is the response I got from Fleetguard when I asked them about the spec's for their two filters that fit the Air Dog. Air dog told me that their filter filters to 3 microns, I wonder if that is really true?

Bill

Below is response from Fleetguard

Thank you for contacting Fleetguard

The micron information you requested is as follows:

FF5617 - 10 micron @ 98. 7% efficient - primary application Ford XW4Z19N619AC

FF5587 - 7 micron @ 98. 7% efficient - no primary application listed

If we can be of further assistance to you, please feel free to

contact your Fleetguard Customer Assistance Center or send a

message to FleetMaster.

Please visit our homepage often at http://www.fleetguard.com

Sincerely,

Fleetguard FleetMaster

Thanks for that information... I knew a little (enough to be dangerous) about the filter ratings... that is the reason I am leary of running anything besides FleetGuard... I called around some and you will be amazed to hear what filters cross reference... one company uses a 30 micron filter in place of the 3 micron fleetguard and that was a direct cross reference! So basically, you got to know yourself because the filter manufacturers are going to sell a "one size fits all" unless they actually designed the filter for a specific application.

I'm thinking about getting a FASS system for my 05, this is one of the very informative threads I found by using the search function.

I brought this thread back to the top, there's alot of good info here.

Does anyone have anymore input to add to this thread?
