Some trucks are OK with the stock pick up, and some are not with the 150 GPH. The ones that have issues usually have a few miles on them. (Trash and debris on the tube screen). The reason the '05 and up kits are higher in price is because it includes a Suction Tube Kit to by-pass the stock sending unit. You can run this same kit from 03-06 (STK-1001). The 94-02 (STK-1002) trucks are slightly different in length.
NOW the HPFP's shouldn't and usually don’t have issues with fuel cavitation. This is because there is no return line back to the tank. This means no Flow when its not needed. The HPFP By-passes internally. SO its an on demand type pump. The FASS is moving slightly 80ish GPH or 135ish GPH (AND now 180ish GPH) all the time at pressure. SO its constantly moving fuel through the stock pick-up. (Tons more fuel than the stock setup). This is where issues start to happen. Our fix is the suction tube kit with the 1/2" pickup in the tank. Once installed, the noise of the pump drops and fuel cavitaion is a thing of the past. (Just put fuel in your truck when the fuel light comes on and you will be fine... most do this anyway. ) Some trucks are just fine with the stock pickup. Mine has had a 150 GPH on it for almost 2. 5 years with NO issues at all.
OK... ... CP3 Mods... ... if you are looking toward the 30 PSI plus range for pressure..... look at the 200 GPH pump. (OR you can get the 95 GPH pump with the EM-1002 motor... . its about 110 GPH. This is good for REALLY high pressure... . 130 PSI+... but most will not need that. ) This pump will be able to handle the higher pressure without wearing out. Its the same as the 150 GPH unit, but with a bigger motor that turns higher RPM's and can handle higher amperage. The smaller motors (EM-1001) are good to about 30 PSI... that’s it. Any higher, and you start to drastically reduce the life of the motor.
