Competition Stupid question.

Competition Want to et started in Pulling, need advice

I've got a 16HH American Mustang/Morgan cross that was gelded late in life. He is the pasture boss over our mules and foxtrotters and won't let them or anything that I'm training for customers forget it. We use various tarps and other objects to despook our trailriding animals and he will not only walk right up on the tarp but will also grab it with his teeth and run off with it. It's quite a site to see a horse with a 10x12 blue tarp in his teeth running around the pasture. He was a gift from a riding and hunting friend of mine that came down with bone cancer. Gus will be a permanent fixture in my pasture until he dies.

I use a zap collar as needed to reinforce "That'll Do!" to keep them off my horse and packstring. They are good dogs and after getting over the excitement of hitting the trail will settle in good.

the mules. They never miss with a kick and always aim

Thank god they do miss! But they are deadly. Know an outfitter who lost a bc last summer. Broke the kids up bad losing their favorite dog. A young mule with a quick deadly aim. World of difference between a mule and a horse when it comes to cock/aim/fire. Got some here who are just waiting for their chance. So I pray for my girls daily and try to be careful when wrangling. If coyotes, bears, lions, and wolves weren't enough.
