Competition T.I.M Sled Pull videos..?

Competition Larry Crawford @ Muncie

I just put my pump in the Classifieds for sale and it should be in there tomorrow, I have one person looking at it now(160 pump guy) and he has the first shot, after that its an open field.

Jim

Anyway what's the anwser to who's got the fastest 2WD? Anyone gone faster than HVAC 12 flat @ 116 mph in a street truck ?

noone I know of, but we'll have to wait to answer that question after Jim gets the new pump on. it sure will be nice to a fast 12 valve again. good luck Jim if you need anything let me know.

I was out testing my new toy from Piers tonight getting a feel for it, I ran it out once and will probably not ever do it again. I was seeing if it would keep pulling high in the RPM band with a load on it (the truck at high MPH) in OD at around 3700-3800 I let off as it was pulling still like there was no tomorrow, I just sat down and figured it up on prestage.com and with my 32" tall tires is says 145 MPH..... sick huh! The idea of cleaning up my smoke is a thing of the past now as at 3500+ RPM it is still covering the road up:D Don't know what I'm going to do at the track... . I think I have an issue now!

Jim

Jim, I think your issue is going to be a roll cage. What are your EGTS with the new pump at 3600+RPM in 3rd and 4th?

It's not that fast! I'm not looking to get that fast as my pockets aren't that deep. On the EGT's, they are livable and no my 2000 degree gauge is not pegged, there is some left in it on the pump, actually quite a bit, but I really like the way it drives and I don't want to loose that. Cruise is a little touchy but it was before (need to limit the vacuum to it) driving around is fine but I'm use to the light throttle needed, idles weird! More like a hum than a diesel chop... . nice balance job. I'm going to make a shift point change as it really likes RPM, Not a pump for the faint at heart! heck I haven't even tuned it yet, just pulled it out and stuck it on... not bad changing the pump either!

Nowell, this pump is not a gift from Piers for the PDR racing group but I would not have it if it wern't for them as they got my old pump sold for me, unbelievable they way they treated me! Now it's up to me not to let them down and knock out some numbers.

I think it's sick when you get to this point of the power scale and if your not breaking stuff or putting the truck in the ditch it needs more. If I go past were I'm at it will happen and I will loose some driveablity! I like being able to drive to the track, set it up, run then drive back home without changing injectors or other stuff like that, suspension changes are no big deal and that I can live with.

I am installing a Piers stupid pump today and am wondering what I got myself into. I have a Pius H2E on the way and I hope it will supply enough air. Oo. Oo.

Bruce

Nope! Post back on this thread about it!

:D :D :D I wish I was there to see your face!

Jim

The pump is going in today and I should have the turbo by the end of the week. I will post what it is like with my present turbo and with the Pius turbo.

Bruce

Changed the rear brakes/turned the drums today and the TV spring for higher shift points but I now have a problem, can't seem to get a good 2-3 shift point cause at that point it's still spinning! On the 2 lane by my house I can lay down on it about 30 MPH, it picks up 2nd with the boost, slams me back in the seat then starts walking around on the road past the 2-3 shift till the 3-4 shift then finally hooks up, seems weird turning the steering wheel passing 60 MPH;) I think this will work at the track!

Jim

Well I am prob one of the slowest of the fast trucks on this board but my '01 went a 13. 76 with bone stock rear suspension 2wd 5spd truck. My '02 with an auto will run a 12 no matter what it takes.

Don't hear from you much anymore what's up! I was thinking you and I running 12's side by side at the Tulsa would be a crowd pleaser:p What is up with the 02' are you saving for mods or are you waiting!

Jim:

What lift did you set your pump up at? I don't know the lift to degrees for the Piers Stupid Pump, is it the same as a 215 HP Cummins?

Bruce

I finally found on a search that Piers uses the 1994 pumps for the stoopid pumps. I will reset my timing to 94 specs. for 17*.

Bruce

17*, that pump won't like that timing, way too much fuel for that timing. Mine was set up for 20 degrees and that is were it's at..... crisp as a new dollar bill, I ran my old pump at 20 also. I looked back and I see that you don't have a O-Ring in the head or a thicker gasket, that may be why. Were did they set your pump up at internally, they usually do them at 18 or 20 depends on the customer. The reason they use 160 pump for the Stupid version is because everything inside the pump is thrown away, all the components inside are different, some people out there are still lost about the 913 pump thinking that bigger is better..... normal guy thought! 913's are the biggest/best pump in stock form or adding bolt on stuff, when you get to this level is all out the window!

Jim

Bruce, PM me you number and I'll call you today!

Thought I would keep this thread going, tested last night Friday the 2nd, got the best of a 12. 75@110+..... no drugs... . Still on the Street tires and in legal Street Diesel form with a best 60ft of 2. 019, a special thanks goes out to Piers Diesel for the power to make the MPH, DTT and James Northum for the transmission parts and buildup (Feb 02') and John Clavert (Caltrac bars) for the suspension parts and tuning tips to get the 60 ft times.

Went out Thursday night and had a heck of a time getting it out of the hole and after talking to John and making some changes I was able to get it to glue out of the hole but there is a kicker, I'm leaving in Valet mode on the pump, full fuel just doesn't work, likes to put the truck sideways in the track.

Non-legal time (last 2 passes) was a best of 12. 64@114.

Jim

P. S. The funniest statement of the night was... . does this have a Banks Kit on it?
