Fords new warranty on 6.4

Wow. The moderator must have a power trip or something . All the deleted posts in that thread. I've seen ford and chevy trolls on this forum running their mouths and no deletes. I guess they figure "What good is power if you cant abuse it?"

On one hand I feel bad for some folks who are Ford loyal that aren't jerks about it. But on the other hand... .....

How long has ford insisted on a V8 when Nav makes a great I6. But now Ford is bugging about the down side of the platform?

This is nothing new, folks.

Navistar, the parent company of International Truck and Engine Corporation, is having a bit of a finanical 'issue' of late. Their accounting is in shambles, they haven't reported earnings in over a year, they're in severe danger of dropping off the NYSE--if they haven't already--and their CEO has admitted, jokingly, that he wants to find a buyer for the company.

Ford and Navistar have a contractual agreement to share warranty repair costs on the 6. 0 liter Powerstroke diesel engine, and a contractual price point structure for the 6. 4 liter engines. Thus far Navistar has not held up their end of the bargain on either contract.

Due to Navistar's accounting problems, the money is not available 'on paper' and Ford is exercising their only option at the moment to appease their shareholders, which is retrieve the money via a lawsuit.

Welcome to big business, where fathers sues daughters, sons fire mothers, and everyone eats dinner together at 5pm.

hmmm ford teaming up with cat if things go sour maybe, i could see that from a advertising stand point working good, i kinda remember the dodge adds when they got cummins in the later 80s

I think Ford could out sell Dodge and GM combined if they teamed up and used the John Deere 6068 PowerTech Plus engine in place of the current Navistar Powerstrokes and hooked it up to a decent transmission... ... ... . maybe a nice Eaton Fuller 7 speed manual?

Don't they already, or nearly so?

Cat is not going to make a pickup truck engine. They don't like pickup truck engines and they will tell you so. They only make top quality 1st class engines to do real work and they will tell you that as well. In their mind, pickup truck engines are cheap/low quality units and they don't want anything to do with them.

This I hear first hand at a CAT training seminar from a CAT employee. I have recently purchased some school buses/CAT engines and needed some training on the C7 and one day a guy spoke up and said... "Why doesn't Ford install a CAT?"

I believe CAT made an attempt to design a small truck engine and they lost BIG $$ in the work peformed.

Sounds like Ferd's in a heap of trouble. I hope they don't go under. We need them to kick around. Oo.

They won't. In fact, I think they're an excellent investment right now.

Not saying that you are wrong but what makes you think you should invest in a company that is losing money?

Auto companies go through cycles, overemphasized by the media. Have you ever noticed that there is always one of the Big Three at the media whipping post at any given time? Ford's lashing is almost over... just as GM's was a few years ago. Daimler-Chrysler better be ready for thier's next.

Ford is getting its act together. Remember when GM wrote off huge losses in the early-1990s? At the time, the losses were the biggest ever. Tax implications play into these losses, as well. I agree that Ford is a good investment right now.

My question is: When will the media decide to include Toyota in this party? My guess is that it won't be long.

That may be a very long time. Toyota is rock solid right now.

Well, I'm not an economist or financial advisory, but I think Ford is a good investment because their stock is DIRT cheap. I have absolute confidence that Ford will not be going away anytime soon, which means you're essentially guaranteed that their stock price will rise, if you wait long enough.

That's the way I figure it, anyway. Could be flawed logic.
