2006 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 4WD issue

Bio Crap

Is there a way to get a fuel guage working? About a week ago I going to a job and truck died. I wasn't concerned about being out of fuel be cause Guage showed 1 click under 1/2. I assumed it was lift pump.
Got under truck checking for wiring and dropping tank. I turned key on fastened for lift sound and it was running and sounded like it was sucking air. I added 5 gallons and it started!
Now going to fill every 400 miles
Thanks

Sounds like your sending unit has "died" or something is blocking it from working correctly. If you have a 35 gal tank, you can get a replacement sender from Genos; https://www.genosgarage.com/product...ing-unit-mopar-5072766ad/fuel-tank-components

Or if smaller tank, something along these lines; https://www.genosgarage.com/product/fleece-0304-fuel-tank-module/fuel-tank-components

Then there is the just as you stated, fill every 400 miles or so to keep from becoming stranded. Good luck with the repair.

Much easier to remove the bed, than dropping the tank. Tail lights, bonding strap underneath on the front RH side, six bolts (or is it 8, been a while since I had mine off), three screws at the fuel filler neck, and be careful to not let dirt in the open filler as you have to remove the cap for a bit while taking stuff loose and lifting the bed, stuff a rag in it if you can. Put large piece of cardboard between the bed and cab to protect the paint, and I use old blue jeans over the ends of the bumper to protect the bed. I made a lifting fixture and use my portable gantry crane, and engine hoist would probably work too, but the tailgate might have to come off. I use a sandbag to balance the bed.I've had it off about three times so far, last time was to install a in tank pump in place of the sending unit/pick up and eliminated the lift pump on the fuel filter housing. (Mopar kit, but no longer available).

Unless you have tool boxes, aux fuel tank, 5th wheel hitch. Lifting the bed doesn't work well on either of my trucks. I need to drop my tank soon, sending unit only reads 3/4 when full but its the original on my 2003. Good time for new fuel lines too.
