Truck Sales Report

Torque!!!!!!!

I don’t really care honestly. It’s a big profit line for them. But having a big name isn’t all that beneficial in my opinion. After all, it was all under the Chrysler name umbrella for the longest time.

Not me, gonna cost 60k + to replace it with some smogmobile.

David, we had our 2001.5 24V for 14 years and would never go back to it unless it was just a toy to play with. The 2015 is everything that the 24V was not. Now if the 2001.5 would have had a nice 6 speed auto transmission, then I might think differently. It was gear bound. And yes I test drove the 6 speed manuals, which I found clunky slow. Snoking

Sno, everybody has their own deals. I personally really like my 99. I do not need or want all the stuff they put in these over priced trucks these days. The trans was taken care of long ago so the only thing hanging over my head is the VP and unlike the CP4 I read about is not going to cost thousands when it goes, no turbo actuator etc.. Yeah the 99 is pretty much a simple machine and that's what I like about it. When I lift the hood I can still see the ground below, all the filters are readily accessible and the injectors are mechanical. A set of injectors around 400ish dollars.

Do you have 3.56's or 4.10's?

Our 24Vs we quite similar, DTT, smart controller, EB, injectors, guages, 3rd gen track bar, steering box brace, etc. I replaced the HY35 with a PDR35-12W. I replace the failed VP44 at 52K myself. Stephan installed my injectors when the transmission was built at 32K. I towed a 12,400 5th wheel for 11 of those years.

3.54 I think was on the tag. Sometimes the 4.10's would come in handy but not enough to warrant a change.

Mine had the 4.10's could have used a gear between 3rd and OD on the passes, and a second OD ratio for the freeways.

The blame starts with DCX and their “merger of equals”. What a outright lie that was. Chrysler Corp was finally gaining some traction and had quite a Decent and full product line when that happened. Since, it’s been a struggle. FCA has been an okay keeper, but aside from giving us great Hemi cars, and fantastic interiors, they haven’t helped the top to bottom deal.
Not having the name Dodge on the trucks, and splitting them off, like Jeep is, only improves marketability for the inevitable spinning off of what’s left of my beloved brand.
I hope a certain 1st gen/ Viper guy shows up and propels this topic.

I still call it a Dodge, but mostly out of habit, not as some kind of protest. What I care about is competitive product, and better engineering for performance/mpg/reliability/driveability/serviceability, to name a few, and in no particular order. Some of those things have been on the wane, IMHO. If the product checks ALL the boxes they can call it Sterling, Studebaker, Stuka, Stellantis, or ???

It’s too early to give an honest long term assessment of my 05 Dodge Ram vs my 18 Ram, but so far the Ram has the win, hands down.

I think they should have kept Dodge, as it was the longest lasting pickup brand name in history.. but it’s just a name. A current Dodge Ram 3500 wouldn’t be any different than the current Ram 3500, IMHO. The potential issues are emissions related and that doesn’t all come from the manufacturer.

Point being modernization has made my Ram better, not the name.

My 04 may be a RAM, just NO ram tags on it-DEBADGED the ram. I do still have the horny SOB on the grill and tail gate though..
Still America though(so far) and I like DODGE/MOPAR!

Your 04 is still a D O D G E. it should have it like that on the Tailgate. It’s not unusual to not see “Dodge” on a Dodge. My ‘69 Charger didn’t have Dodge anywhere- maybe one- two places. There were “Charger” and the “Deltas” all over it though.
