Filters -- Oil and Fuel and Air

I've been shopping around for filters and I need some clarification (this is for a 2010 6. 7).

First, are any of the stock MOPAR oil, fuel or air filters for this engine made by Fleetguard (I suspect the air filters are)?

Second, what is the difference between Fleetguard Oil Filters LF16035 and LF3972?

Third, what is the difference between the Fleetguard FS43255 and MOPAR 68065608AA? The pictures on Geno's indicate they are a bit different, but are for the same engine.

Finally, the MOPAR 53034051AB air filter appears to be the same as the Fleetguard AF-27684. I don't know how to cross-reference FG to MOPAR filters (anyone have a tip?).

Recommendations on all of the above?

Go to Fleetguard's web site, they have a cross reference section. The Mopar air filter in question, does cross over to the Fleetguard #, it's called an "air, panel":-laf

I use the LF 16035 since it's easier to remove from underneath. Both the LF16035 and LF3972 are Stratapore filters so they are equal in filtration quality.



For the air filter, I use Fleetguard because it is a lot cheaper for me to buy up here in Canada... . Can't go wrong with either.



For the fuel filter I use Fleetguard, but once again because of cost to me. I believe that Fleetguard makes the Mopar filter for the '10 and up trucks.



Either way Mopar or Fleetguard, you're getting quality filtration products for your Cummins.

Sorry but you are wrong
The LF16035 is the Stratapore filter. The LF3972 is the standard filter. Both have the flutes or notches on the bottom of the can for a cap style wrench. If you don't want the fluted filter you could use LF3984 ( stratapore ) and LF3959 ( non stratapore ) Generally speaking if using synthetic oil I would use the Stratapore filter.

Mopar 53034051AB does cross to AF27684 and Mopar 68065608AA crosses to FS43255. Up here Cummins is almost always cheaper then Dodge.

x2 for Geno's. They carry the right stuff at decent prices. These days, driving to Cummins or a dealership costs more than I might save shopping around, so I don't even bother.

Do you have any CAD prices to compare Geno's to Cummins to Dodge dealer in Alberta? I'm still on my first batch that I ordered from Geno's but need to reorder soon. I can't recall the prices up here but when I originally ordered filters from Geno's (partly because I was ordering some other hard to find around here items as well) I didn't bother with the dealer prices but I did call Cummins in Edmonton to find they were more money than Geno's shipping 2400 miles from Georgia to Alberta! Take into account the exchange rate at the time and shipped to my door and it was easier to just order from Geno's. The same thing happened when I checked into local pricing on PacBrake airbags in that it was much cheaper (including freight) for me to order it from Geno's and have it shipped all the way here than it was for me to order locally and run into town to pick it up (ironic since as far as I can tell PacBrake is a Canadian company).



Just curious if you have any price comparisons on the air/oil/fuel filters? Thanks.

I buy all my filters in bulk from my local Kenworth dealer. They are WAY cheaper than Cummins or Dodge. In bulk they are about the same as the prices from Geno's before paying shipping up to Canada. Go figure, Cummins can't match the Kenworth pricing and the cases come from Cummins.....

Just buy the Stratopore filters and don't worry about what Dodge filters are, there only a buck or two more, I have always used them, I buy a case at a time

Same way with CAT for example. If they did not do that they would not have any distributors... ... . right???



What would be the point in us (or any dealer for that matter) trying to represent an OEM if they were hacking the sell prices.



The OEM's need dealers in the field. Can't live without us. We do the dirty work.

I was at the local Dodge dealership yesterday getting my RAM 1500 company truck serviced and just for curiosity sake I asked the parts person what they sell the standard MOPAR oil filter for a 6. 7 Cummins for. I was almost shocked (but not really) to find they charge $30. 74 for the filter! Compare that to $8. 95 for standard and $12. 95 for stratopore Fleetguard filters at Geno's. I wonder how that compares to U. S. dealership prices for the same item. Amazing at any rate. I should have asked what a complete oil change service goes for so I could feel good about the money I save doing it myself.
