Well heres my story... ... ... .

I bought a 08 2500 last September when i bought my camper. I have the biggest grin on my face every time i step in the throttle and that auto 6 just rolls through the gears. First time pulling with it was even better, 13000lbs was no match for my 6. 7 Cummins as it ripped through these Tennessee Hills.

But i ALWAYS had 1 tiny problem with this truck... (a small hesitation when feathering the throttle). Of course everyone knows what im talking about. I have been reading TDR for more than 3 months now waiting for a answer to this problem. Just hoping someones dealer had found a solution... . But No.

So determined as i was to find a solution, I took it upon myself and started with the most basic mod i could think of. . DPF delete. One thing lead to another when i started ordering stuff for this truck. I took alot of peoples suggestions to heart and ordered it all. EGR delete, EGR cooler delete, DPF delete, 5 inch exaust, Edge insight, and of course a Smarty.

This is alot to do in one day. So me and a few of the local Dodge inthusiasts

took on our first 6. 7. (Almost all of the locals are 5. 9 truck owners) Did i mention that the exaust has almost 500 sensors! (More like 5 but it was alot)

This install went great. Flo-Pro pipes fit perfect. The craftmanship was as good as i could expect. H&S EGR delete was very easy. The kit for this was exellent. Very well made. The EGR Cooler Delete was easy for us but it might not be so easy for a non mechanical type person. The instructions were easy to follow but not so easy to do. We found ourselves changing some steps to make it easier to get the cooler off. The kit for this good. I Didnt like the hose clamp that they sent to seal off the plug for my water line. It cut the hose when i tightend it up and made it leak. The factory clamp worked better.

The Edge Insight was a breeze to install. Very clean. This thing gives yo so much data to use.

Now for the Smarty. I installed the S67 with the me file. I love it. Very simple.

and MADS know there stuff. If i could think of it, Smarty thought of it already. Except for 1 thing. (The differential pressure sensor on the particulate filter needs to remain plugged in. Not hooked up to the exaust, Just plugged in. ) Someone might mention this Marco, but maybe someone already has.

Now for the results... ... ... My truck is a totally different truck. I couldnt be more pleased. The throttle response is amazing and the power is just insane. I am just running the 30hp tune right now and it feels like 100hp to me. All temps well with normal range and my mileage is already going up. 17. 8 on the over head was the old normal range and now 22. 5mpg. I am guessing that it will average about a 2. 0 mpg gain with the calculator. The exaust is very deep and throaty but not unbearable with the muffler they sent. Oh yeah, i am 3 days into the change and my hesitation when feathering the throttle is gone. This is the first time that has happened since i bought the truck. This might not be the fix for everyone but it seems to have worked for me. I will keep everyone posted if it is gone for good.

The parts that i picked was suggested by diesel enthusiasts. TDR and their users was a very big influence on making the decisions i made. Genos Garage has awesome service and Thoroughbred Diesel delivered on time as well. These people are class acts and really know there stuff. Thanks to everyone for your posts... keep it up and keep posting your successes and failures. It helped me make a informed decision that i couldnt have gotten any where else.

If anyone is considering doing this mod, but is just unsure, dont be. The minute the truck started up i knew it was the right decision for me. I done it for the love of my truck. No other reason. If there is any questions i could answer about this install i would be more than glad to help in any way i can.

I want to hug the mechanic at the dealer for not tightening the rear nuts on the EGR cooler when he replaced it last summer. Those two would have been a horrorshow to get off if properly tightened! As it was we had to take off the thermostat to get the nut loose on the inside front of the EGR cooler. And what Einstein dreamed up those o-ring sealed connectors to the coolant line? Ridiculous! DPF is coming off this week!

Welcome to TDR!

Ken

Funny you say that about the rear bolts on the cooler. Mine were not so tight either. We unbolted the cooler mount bracket and slid it out of the way to get to that front bolt on the cooler. Someone had to have used a cheater bar or something on those because they were way tight.

This whole build felt like they(dealer or Dodge) had planned for me to do this because If it needed room to move it had it, If it needed a hole it had it,etc. It went great.

Thanks for the Welcome. Glad to be here.

Don't wait! It's the best thing you can do for your truck. I was going to wait also, but at 14,000 the turbo and DPF went out at the same time. Deleted at that time and couldn't be happier.

I can hardly wait for my warranty to expire! Oo.

Just got back from my trip and i must say WoW. I couldnt be happier. The truck is running better than it did when i bought it. Big hills were no problem and that 5 inch exaust sounds so good. Also the engine hesitation is still gone. 15. 1 mpg was my over head but the calculator said 14. 2 that was pulling 13000lbs.

Thanks to all for the welcome.

To any one that wants to do it and it doesnt violate local emissions codes go for its 1000000 times better.

That's what I'm worried about. If I was deleted and had those failures, I would have to pay to replace the DPF and turbo, or at least the turbo.

Delete the EGR and DPF and there will be no turbo problems. ! Just deleted mine this week and am kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

We just did all of that on my friends 2011 and what a difference. We were looking at the exhaust manifold too, anyone know if a 3rd generation pulse manifold would bolt in? Want to try and help avoid the #6 cylinder squeek that killed my 04... ... .

OK, All those that did the delete. .

I know you are before the 2010 guide for the emissions. . I have a 2009 as well. I was wondering and I havent asked this yet but if you delete the emissions stuff and then you have to do the emissions...

the truck, per the manufacturer, says it is supposed to be on there even though it was done before the law required it. . would the test fail due to missing equipment visually? Our state. . Utah, does emissions every 2 years and I wonder if I do this and everything is ok codes wise and such if I would have to redo it.

If it comes on the truck from the factory (emission components), then it needs to be on for visual of the smog test.

Also these new emission standards are Federal, so it don't matter if your state has no smog testing (it's still illegal to remove). I will shortly doing the stage 1/Smarty Jr delete since I have smog testing here in California. Easy swap in an hour.

Just to update everybody that wants to know... ... 10000 miles have passed and im still having no problems. Mileage is still up. Engine studder is still gone. I honestly dont think i have ever been happier with another truck.
