"By the way, Weld is finally making the wheels we've requested. They should be available immediately. The sizes are 18x8. 5 and 20x8. 5 (the latter more for the street and show guys). The styles are "Cheyenne 8" and "Dagger 8. " They are in a +45mm offset and are made specifically to fit the HD Rams INSIDE THE FENDERWELLS. They are one piece, forged wheels with a huge load rating designed specifically for your trucks. I've been warned that unless Weld gets some early orders, they're going to get discontinued. "

Saw this buried in another thread. Thought I'd post here to get the word out.

Will the backspacing on these allow us to run 315s without a lift and without rubbing (like the factory wheels do)?

It should be close. the wheel is a 1/2 inch wider and has just about the same backspace.

Another possibility, and I think it will be a lot cheaper, is Alcoa 478481 17x8" Classic forged. Backspace is 4. 54", weight rating 3450 lb.

A good forged wheel isn't cheap. Most of your good quality forged wheeles are light, highly polished, and EXTREMELY strong. I've never had a set of Billet Specialties wheels that I had to expend a lot of elbow grease to keep sparkly. To each his own I guess...

$40 large for a truck!! OMG!!! Are you sure that's not for two trucks!?!?! :p

They all make quality 8 lug wheels.

Eagle Wheels also makes a nice looking wheel, but IMHO, they just don't have the eternally blinding shine that the big boys do.

The Mickey Thompson Classic II's and/or the Alcoa's are about the same. It IS a classic look, but too generic for me.

Just my . 02

Mickey Thompson Classic I is forged by Alcoa.

MT Classic II is a cast wheel.

I got a set of Alcoa classics in 16x7 for my'97 at about $110 each from Southwest wheel in Texas. I haven't priced wheels for my '04.

All I've ever had are Weld's. IMO they are the best wheels you can buy for an HD. They are a forged billet, super strong, don't pit, don't dull even under salty conditions, run true and are easy to balance even on the wide ones. You get what you pay for and you pay a pretty penny for a new truck. Don't know why you would get cheap when adding to it.

AWESOME!!

IT's ABOUT TIME!!! THANK YOU WELD RACING!

Joe 4. 5" backspace wheels stick way out like everyone else's. You need at least 6" backspace to maintain stock offset.

I agree with everything expcept for the dulling and pitting comment. I have had Weld's and they are a pain to keep looking good. That is the main reason I didn't go with them on my 03. I can't see spending that kind of money on wheels that aren't going to stay looking like they are $200+ wheels. I went with steel. Got a set of 5 for just a little more than one Weld. :) :D

Are they REALLY trying to charge 500-600 for ONE rim? Thats more than the AMG and tuner rims for euro cars! Just doesn't seem right. The quality of style isn't even close. Oh well. When looking at the cheyenne, I didn't see it specified in the abovementioned sizes... . ?
