Has anyone tried these? Looking at the 315/70R17 size, but haven't seen them on anything except the new Ford F-150 in a smaller size. Thanks all

I have a set of Destination AT's on our Silverado 1500 work truck. They only have a little over 3K on them so far, but they run very smooth and quiet on the highway and have been excellent on the muddy access roads where our trucks spend a great amout of time. I was a little unsure of a Firestone brand tire, but the tire store owner that we use praised these things up and down and really did a good job of talking me in to them. He sells all brands, so I was a little surprised at his suggestion. But so far, he has been very accurate. I'll let you know more after we put some more miles on them.

They're supposed to be a twin of the Bridgestone Revo 2. They both share the Uni-T precision manufacturing process. They just ended a buy three, get one free sale. It'll be back. Firestone had them recently for $234. 00 ea. One of the only E-rated 315-70-17's I know of.

I had a set of the Destination LT stock 265 size they lasted about a year. but they were not the E rated tires and they did drive smooth. I put the finninshing touchs on them with the addition of a Smarty

Thanks all. I had a Ram 1500 come into my shop today with them (20" wheels but... . ) We had over a foot of snow in the last few days, so it was a good test, I was really impressed. I've driven trucks with Toyo Open Country AT's, and BFG AT's, and I think they handled just as well if not better in our lovely Canadian "winter" (Read -39' Celcious and blowing snow) I can get them up here for about $230/tire. They aren't as aggressive as my Toyo MT's, (which are crap in the 6 months of snow/ice), but I don't need a mud terrain, and I had only bought them for the load rating that the Toyo's came with.

Has anyone tried these?

I have them on my Megacab, in LT285/70R17 LRD. The OEM Michelin LTX A/S's suck so bad that I replaced them at 2100 miles (previous Michelins have sucked, too..... the LT245/75R16 LTX M/S's on my 1998 RAM 2500... gone at 28k miles and one never would balance correctly, would require 4WD to take off with even 2" of snow; LT265/75R16 LTX A/S's on my 2000 RAM 2500 were replaced at 200 miles in favor of some Bridgestone Dueler A/T's in LT285/75R16).

I now run some LT305/60R20 Goodyear Wrangler SR/A's on some 20x9 Ultra Grinders. They're coming off this weekend and the Destination A/T's will serve my winter needs much better. Wear is good and wet traction is good, too..... they're quite smooth at all speeds.

Sharp truck Greg, everything looks better in blue!! I appreciate all the positive reviews, I ordered a set and should have them Thursday, I hope. I'll mount them up on the weekend, and then the truck will be ready to roll to Disneyland for Christmas!! HOHOHO Everybody

You are going to love them on the highway. I just put a set of the Transforce AT's in 265 E on my '07. Same Uni-T construction, just a slightly different tread pattern. I can't believe I'm saying it, but they are much smoother than the Michelin LTX AT 2's we have on the '04. 5.

I researched the "Tirerack" website and noticed the 285/70/17 and the 315/70/17's noted as new, load range E.

My question is: is there clearance/rubbing when mounting the 315's on 2004. 5 stock chrome wheels, with no lift?

Aside from traction, anyone notice any unusual flex in the sidewalls for such a tall tire, primarily the 315?

The Dueler Revo A\T's are the top dog tire from Firestone's Bridgestone brand. If you go to Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels you should see a bunch of good reviews. They look good, ride well, and balance well. I've had several sets on my 02'. I usually get Discount Tire and Firestone to duke it out on price. I can usually save at least $100 off list price this way.

Tires finally showed up !! I mounted them up and was very surprised how little weight they took to balance out. The worst one took 1. 5 ounces on one side and 1. 25 on the other. Nice and quiet on the road and WAY quieter than my Toyo M/T"s. They look good, I just have to get 2 replaced because the white letters where 1/2 worn off when I washed off the blue goo they put over the lettering. :D. Taking off tomorrow to put on 6000 km on them and see how they work out.

Oh drat Marc, I did not see your post. I had a set of these tires for 30K miles and they wore right off the truck before my eyes. Probably the rough granite they put in the SC asphalt. SInce then I have over 50K on a set of Michelins and they will go all the way to 75 or 80 i bet. Keep em filled with nitrogen at least, thats what I have in the tires now.

Good luck!
Ken

I had them on my County Highway Dept 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The went about 50K in very harsh conditions. No pampering these tires!! They were quiet, had great wear characteristics and got great traction in mud and snow. We had to be out in 12" of snow and I was climbing some backwoods big hills in the middle of nowhere when the tread was down to almost nothing. They still did great and I could go anywhere. This 1500 was 4x4 with locking rear diff.

We also had Federal Disaster 500 year flooding in 2008 and I was running roads with debris and tree brush everywhere. No flats or failures there either. Of course I was lucky but I was running over some nasty stuff and they did great. I really abused them... although not on purpose.

Firestone tires

I have Destinations on the wifes car. Very good so far. Good traction. I have transforce A/T's on the 3500 ram and they have given me 40K( with 5k+ left) with 85% towing a 16K trailer. I have recently bought the Transforce H/T to see how they last. So far they love holding onto gravel in the treads, but a rated as excellent tires. Time will tell.

I cant recall even getting one flat with the Transforce A/t's. I hope the H/T's are as nice.

We also have the transforce AT's on some vehicles too. Our 1 ton dumps run them. They seem to do OK as well but its hard to tell on the 1 tons. They eat every kind of tire no matter what because the suspensions are worn out and they get overloaded. Somewhat of a different tire than Destination AT.

Well I'm back from Disneyland and area with over 6000km on the tires and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Quiet and smooth on the highway, good traction through the snow and crap up north. I had them all set at 50 psi and the fronts look like new. The rears wore the center some, 80 mph the whole way there and back, I'm assuming deflection at speed is the cuplrit. I'm believe the fronts weren't effected with due to the extra weight on them compared to the rears. I'll rotate them right away and see how they do with more "normal" driving on them. So far, so good.

Had the Firestone Transforce AT's on my 3500. They wore out at 57,000 miles. Considering they were less than1/2 the cost of the Michelins at the time, I came out ahead. They also had much better snow traction for when I lived in Colorado. I just replaced these with Bridgestone Duravis R500 HD's. My local tire guy has sold a lot of these and has gotten good feedback from operators here. More of a highway tread like the Transforce HT's. I don't live in snow country anymore.

Initial impressions are they are very quiet, balanaced with very little weight, and they were $145 a tire. Under $1000 for six mounted and balanced. Hopefully these do as well as my Transforce AT's on mileage.

Well, we are now at a little over 6 months and 12K of use on the Destination AT's on our Silverado work truck. As I have posted many times before on this site, that truck traditionally wears tires very rough on the front end. So far, the Firestones are running true, smooth, and have no shake or vibration. I'm extremely happy that the guy at our local tire shop talked me in to them. :)

I am equally impressed with the Transforce AT's I put on my '07 Ram. With all the snow and ice so far this winter, they have been absoutely great. We have the Michelin LTX AT 2's on our '04. 5. I'm not going to say anything negative about that tire. It is performing and wearing very well. But, after running these Firestones for a while now, and providing we don't have any unforseen difficulty with them, I am going to have a hard time paying nearly $100 more per tire for the Michelins next time around.
