I have never heard of Simple Tire, looked at their web site could not see who would handle tire warranty claim when I travel? At least with a place like Discount/America Tire or Costco I know they have locations all over the US that can take care of me if needed, this is one reason why I don't do business with 3rd party tire companies..

i used to buy at Costco a lot. Checked Discount they destroyed Costco. Both great places IMHO. Point is they are all over and know how to properly torque the lug nuts and balance tires.

Simple Tire works with independent shops or DIY, they have good prices, I tried to order up some Cooper's for my one ride, they wound up not being able to fill the order it was an odd 16" size was a skinny rim for sure, but overall you can have them shipped to your local independent place and installed.

I wound up going Tire Rack paid more but they were stock and I did self install, they probably have a road hazard, not sure was not worried about that for this ride.

IMO Balance is balance when it comes to tires and wheels, the older machines are just limited in size, but no different then the fancy stuff with lasers and arrows. If the machine is set up correctly, you can get all the weights and the sort online for any application.

Road Hazard is no different then say the local folks when out of state/area you can turn in your receipts, most Dealers don't even offer Road Hazard, they run specials all the time at the local dealer and will price match this and that, but it's not apples to apples. Ask next time when at your dealer if they offer RH.

Read the paperwork and understand what your buying.

back to say Simple Tire......
Our local independent shop has better machines then the big chain across the street.

You can save a lot on your first order and sales for the same Tire with Road Hazard and the sort, just need to do some homework and pick a good shop to ship them too.

Too much hassle, just go to the local chains and be done, my couple trucks go to the local
chain.

From Discount Tire closet one on their "find a shop" is 228 miles from here, I'm very confident if you have an issue in NJ you would be fine with their Road Hazard getting it fixed. Looks like call them first and pay out of pocket and turn it in. Here is what their cert says to do.

HOW TO FILE A CLAIM IF YOUR TIRE IS DAMAGED, TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1. Get the Vehicle to a Discount Tire Location – If the Tire sustains Damage, take the Vehicle to any Discount Tire location.

2. If you are unable to return to a Discount Tire location, take your Vehicle to a repair facility and call Customer Care at (888) 774-6560.

3. Emergency Repairs – Should an emergency occur which requires a repair/replacement be made at a time when Customer Care is closed, you must call within five (5) business days from the date of repair to determine if such repair will be covered by this Certificate. If covered, you will be reimbursed for the repair subject to the Terms and Conditions contained herein. If it is determined that the repair/replacement is not covered by the Certificate, you will be responsible for the repair/replacement cost(s).

Just a 1K mileage update on the Laufenn tires that I put on. First for some of you who didn't know the brand, they're a MLB sponsor! The ride is a bit quieter the the Firestone's. Handling seems to be a bit better and haven;t had enough of the white stuff to see that part. Not sure if that will be this winter or not. The TPMS sensors that I had gotten off Ebay needed a tool to read their ID. Decided to bite the bullet and get a TPMS tool. Read the IDs and it had no issue reading the outer and inner on the truck! Took those numbers and put into AlfaOBD including the spare. Drove truck and they were there. Nice thing about the TPMS tool is that it'll tell you if the battery is good along with temp inside tire! worth the $ since all vehicles seem to have TPMS sensors now. Thinking of getting a set of sensors for the car trailer. That way can check pressure and temp on them without contact and one thing instead of a gauge and infrared! Will post more as time goes buy.

I have been looking at the different kinds they make. Discovery AT3 XLT seem to be very popular on here. My local dealer said they can get them for me.I have been considering what the merits of going a size or two wider. From 275 to 285 or 295 ?

  • Hauling 3 k slide in for about 3 months and empty for 9 months. Snow sometimes deep and snow ice mix. Rough roads potholes. Some gravel but our hiway s are chip seal which means asphalt w crushed gravel imbeded in the asphalt. We call it all weather roads up here in Alaska. Lot of hiway miles in summer. I’m not wanting to change back and forth to winter/summer tires anymore so I want a summer tire that will get me by in the winter. I don’t really drive truck in the winter much anymore.looking at cooper st max tires as well.so would a bit wider be of any value except to throw rocks about?

I read that coopers were made in china
This is from a March ‘21 article about Goodyear acquiring Cooper. Things may have changed since then, but it’s hard for me to believe they closed three US plants in less than two years and moved manufacturing to china.

@Turbo Terry, I wouldn't want to go wider, you'll get up on the snow with wider tires. I had 31x10.50's on a truck years ago and it was terrible in the snow! A guy I worked with said the tundra bus in Greenland had tall narrow tires to go through the snow. In mud, they were a bit better by staying near the top without sinking to the bottom. Others may know more info or have more first hand knowledge. A good AT tire with a good mileage warranty would be the best for you to run with the different terrain that you have up there.

Unless you want a straight-up highway tire, take a look at BFG KO-2, stock size. We run them year round. Snow rated for mountain passes, little bit of lug for off the paved roads. Little softer composition probably, we only get 30,000 miles per set. Trying to go easier on this last set. Maybe road noise is a little more, but we don't notice it much. Probably going a little deaf anyway.

No china very good will stick with stock size tires. After a clackty 99 everything is quiet and at almost 73 what did you say right

Will look at the BFG as well I need black walls I can’t do white lettering makes me crazy. Still studying the choices of the coopers

I have owned a set of Copper SST pre 2017 that I used as a dedicated snow tire and have had good lucky with Michelin tires...

I have had very good luck with my Michelin XLT over the years. As summer tires. I think I had 3sets of 4. Never had a flat etc or issues winter I ran blizzacs. . Very nice winter tire. But I don’t have to go to work anymore and my wife retired two years ago so we drive the Lexus mostly to run errands etc in the winter etc.I need a coopers that will haul heavy hiway 3 months summer mostly and holdup to the chip seal but can make it around a bit in the winter if needed . Give me your ideas please
