I did a couple of searches and couldn't find what I wanted. I just turned 20k, and will be doing first service today. I went thru the last four TDR issues looking for recomended steps, no luck there either. I want to change fluid, filter, but I also remember reading somewhere it is recomended to turn up line pressures. How and where is this done? I just installed ez box and don't mind "kick in the pants" shifting. I also will be installing trans temp guage, I bought the tube with proper port and read about removing check ball in cooler, any other recommendations? I also read all the debate about running to get fluid out of t/c, and Bill K's suggestion of not doing that for fear of running pump dry. Sorry for the long post, just want to do this right.

Thanks in advance!

Matt

I put my front wheel up on ramps so that the TC would drain better. Let it drain over night. I would recomend the Double-deep transmission pan, if you have the $$$. I have 2 probes for my temp gauge one in the cooler line and one in the port on the double deep pan. The extra sender was only $20 and well worth the effort to install.

I also read that doing the band adjustments on the newer trannys in not needed as often as in the past. I did not adjust mine on the first service.

The procedures of turning up the line pressure are on DTT's WEB site.

You can loosen the valve body bolts to drain more of the fluid out. You should use a gasket on the pan as well. I prefer the synthetic gaskets over cork, like the fel-pro or GK type. If you want the info for turning up the line pressures here is a link showing how to do it. Might want to give Bill a call and see what he recomends upping the pressure to.

Might wanna check the band adjustments while your in there too.

I am probably too late but adjust the bands every time you have the pan down, there is no reason not to!! Even if it does not need adjusted you will not hurt anything by adjusting it. If it needs it and you do not adjust them they will be harmed. Bigramguy has the links for all the tech info you need.
