First big rain, lots of water inside

I have had the truck 5 weeks now. Two days ago we had a big rain & I had to run a couple of errands in the truck. This morning when I went out to shake the sand off the floor mats I noticed the mat on the passenger side was wet on the bottom. Investigating further I found the carpet on the passenger side in both the front & back was soaked. Snooping around a little more I found what looks like the fan housing above the feet of the passenger side was also wet. I am thinking the water must have come in above the passengers feet somehow rather than in from around the door but I am not positive at all about where it entered.

Has anyone else had a problem with water leaking & what was the fix?? Thanks.

Big Rig,

I had a cab light that leaked once and only once when the truck was new. At that time several people mentioned the seal around the windshield. As well as checking for cracks in the cab lights, and the seals for the cab lights if you have them.



My water leak came in through the passenger side grab handle.



A few people had thier rear window leak on 2nd gens. but as I recall none on 3rd gens.

Mine leaks out the visor mount. I assume it is coming from the clearance lights

I haven't had any water yet but I have had snow blowing in around the passenger side this winter it was a light snow almost like dust the wife said it was the first time she ever saw a truck that was snowing on the inside.

I reminded her that only the engine was built by Cummins. The truck was still Dodge Junk.

I remembered a way to check for leaks around the windshield. Spray a 'foamy' type window cleaner where the windshield and cab meet, be sure to get some on the cab also. Spray it on thick a 1/2 inch or more, then spray with compressed air from the inside around the edges of the windshield. If there is a leak you should see a big blast of the foamy window cleaner go everywhere. If you have somebody watching from the outside they may be able to see small areas of foam bubbling up, indicating a small leak.



If this shows no signs of leaks, it would almost certainly be the cab lights.

A car wash (or other pressure washer)has enough pressure to blast past almost any weatherstripping so it is not a good indication. I have found there are many air leaks in the cab with use of the foaming brush as you will see huge bubbles come out around weatherstrip when you leave the truck running and blower on (my dog goes just about everywhere with me and she guards the truck for me so she is rewarded with AC/heat)

I SAW SOMETHING THAT DODGE HAD SOME 04 TRUCKS DID NOT GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF SEALER ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SEAL. OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT ALSO THE CAB LIGHTS LEAK ON SOME TRUCKS

i had a leak once it was the windshield. had a new windshield installed and bam like new.

Water on the floor

Well I just got back from the dealer. They said they checked the windshield, the clearance lights, the back window, the light over the back window, the door seals & checked the air cond drain per my request. They said they could not find any leak. I am sure the water is not just appearing on the floor as if by magic, so my wife & I are going out to the driveway to see if we can detect where the water is coming in. If we can't find it then I am at a loss as to what to do. I guess I will just wait for the next big rain. Thanks for all the ideas. I did a search on "water leaks" & found that many others have had water problems.
