Well, I've put 1k miles on my new truck in the past 3 weeks... and I still don't have a doubt in my mind that I got the right truck.

Some people poo-poo'd me on the SB and auto, and the 12 extra valves... but I like the ease and quickness the auto provides, and the meneuverability the SB gives me... and I like the plug-and-play options of the 24v electronicaly controlled VP44.

I recieved a full setup of Autometer gauges from Rip Rook and installed them... except for TT and FP, because Rip sent me the wrong parts for those... I think.

So far, I got up to 18psi (boost limiter) and in 3rd gear, pulling up a 6% grade empty, I was able to get 1250 with the pedal mashed... but then I ran out of straightaway and had to back out, I bet the pyro would've went further. It cruises at 750-800*.

I've got an Edge Drag Comp box lined up that I plan to purchase soon. It should provide between 400-500hp depending on the setup.

Also, I'm unimpressed with the steering, it needs tightened. There is a bushing kit for these 2nd gens that fixes that.

The stock turbo sucks (hy-9), and the OD is too high. DTT will make a world of difference.

On the other hand, I love all the storage space, the back seat, and the back doors. I like the way it doesn't sound like it's going to fall apart above 75mph, I like the fact that I can be confident when I go on a road trips... and this truck is just downright SEXIER than the weenie!

Overall, I really like this truck, but it's going to need some tweeking to get it how I want it.

I've probably forgot to comment on a few things, but it will come to me with time.

I'm not trying to convert anyone, but if you guys are thinking about getting a new truck, don't think too hard, the bells and whistles make a world of difference.

Yeah, I got a little emotional when the weenie was driving away, but it went to a good home... it's going to be hauling Christmas trees and heavy equipment for a living.

Chris, better get you a fuel pusher pump before the lift pump if you go adding chips and whatever else upgrades those vp44's take if you want it to last ;) . Good luck with the new DC! btw wheres my FSM? Oo.

My Fuel pumps drop out like moths hitting the bug zapper. Not only that but the darn fuse box on the buses are sealed against dirt and the like only to become corroded internally w/condensation. Not a problem... if you enjoy walking along the highway.

For another $5 grand you should have that truck about dialed in. LOL

Thanks guys... and thanks for the tip on the article about the steering. Yeah, it's going to cost a LOT of money to get this truck BOMBed, but... OH WELL!!! :D

And bgilbert: I'll get ya your FSM as soon as you tell me to!

Oh, and I plan on relocating the stock lift pump, and then adding the RASP system down the road. :D I've done my research! :D

Ok, ok... I'll get going now... so what, do I have to wear my hat backwards around here now? :D

???RASP???

Why would you want to use a rasp on your truck?... . A lot of rough edges? :D :-laf

Oh that must be one of those crutches for the new trucks!

LOL, yeah, it's a crutch. At least until I put the twins on... then I'll just get a cam with a 12v lift pump lobe so I can run a mechanical lift pump... :D

Hey CB I thouhgt you were going to give me a run with that old first gen you used to have. Just think of how much money you are going to have to put in that weak 2nd gen to keep up with my 500hp first gen. Yeah thats right 500hp. With drugs of course, but that is soon to change. :-laf :-laf :-laf

Marty... you think you can beat a twin turbo'd 24v auto 3. 55 vs. your 4. 10 rear end, 6 speed... and all that extra weight???

I THINK NOT!!!! :D

Stomp: sorry, but it won't take me 500hp to keep up with you. The extended RPM range the 24v has, the variable timing, and increased airflow (quicker spoolup) will undoubtably give you a pretty hard time.

Let's not forget that it takes less fuel to make 500hp with a 24v because it can burn more of the fuel. Efficiency is key.

Mach 6 EDM's, Drag Comp, Twins... can you say 12 seconds? :D :D :D

I'm not trying to start a war here... just protecting my ego... :D no harm meant AT ALL!

I will beat you up the mountain!

When we buy our Cummins we don't want to accelerate fast... just tow fast son!

We drive our sports car when we want to go fast :D :D

Keep dreaming CB when you do twins your good old automatic transmission is going to fall out. Its going to cast you $5000 dollars to hold all of this make believe power you are going to have someday. :-laf :-laf :-laf Just giving you a bad time. I think I will upgrade someday, but I will never get rid of my first gen.

Stomp

Forrest, come on man... you know me better than that! When something breaks I ALWAYS put something BETTER in it's place...

Can you say... Stoopid or maybe a REDICULOUSE pump?!?!? :D (for you that are not in the "know", those are racing p7100 pumps from PDR).

Oh, and stomp, I plan on replacing the transmission BEFORE I add the twins... there is a guy up here running nos at about 750hp and twins with a DTT transmission, and that's what I plan on running... so I'm sure it'll handle what I throw at it.

:D

You guys just wait and see...

My truck is for sale... ad #7277 in the classified.

It's just getting to be too much for my tight budget, especially after a fiasco with it last weekend.

:(

You can come clean any time now, admit it you just wanted one of those fancy trucks, you were always too good for the 1st Gen's.

;) :-laf :D :)

LOL, I was going to go for 500hp until a semi creamed the right front side of my truck (hit and run in the middle of the night), insurance wasn't going to pay for it... I was broke... I just wanted to bail. I was sick and tired of getting left on the side of the road EVERY SINGLE TIME I went out of town.

That is why I sold the weenie. Frustration got the better of me... a little at a time, the weenie picked away at my patience.
