Well, I've put 1k miles on my new truck in the past 3 weeks... and I still don't have a doubt in my mind that I got the right truck.
Some people poo-poo'd me on the SB and auto, and the 12 extra valves... but I like the ease and quickness the auto provides, and the meneuverability the SB gives me... and I like the plug-and-play options of the 24v electronicaly controlled VP44.
I recieved a full setup of Autometer gauges from Rip Rook and installed them... except for TT and FP, because Rip sent me the wrong parts for those... I think.
So far, I got up to 18psi (boost limiter) and in 3rd gear, pulling up a 6% grade empty, I was able to get 1250 with the pedal mashed... but then I ran out of straightaway and had to back out, I bet the pyro would've went further. It cruises at 750-800*.
I've got an Edge Drag Comp box lined up that I plan to purchase soon. It should provide between 400-500hp depending on the setup.
Also, I'm unimpressed with the steering, it needs tightened. There is a bushing kit for these 2nd gens that fixes that.
The stock turbo sucks (hy-9), and the OD is too high. DTT will make a world of difference.
On the other hand, I love all the storage space, the back seat, and the back doors. I like the way it doesn't sound like it's going to fall apart above 75mph, I like the fact that I can be confident when I go on a road trips... and this truck is just downright SEXIER than the weenie!
Overall, I really like this truck, but it's going to need some tweeking to get it how I want it.
I've probably forgot to comment on a few things, but it will come to me with time.
I'm not trying to convert anyone, but if you guys are thinking about getting a new truck, don't think too hard, the bells and whistles make a world of difference.
Yeah, I got a little emotional when the weenie was driving away, but it went to a good home... it's going to be hauling Christmas trees and heavy equipment for a living.
