First John Deere Diesel

I was watching CMT the other night. Big & Rich's video for Save a horse, ride a cowboy came on. Under all other circumstances, i'd change the channel, but I couldn't find the remote. In the video, Gretchen Wilson's riding around on a old Deere. On the side it says it's a 535 diesel. I thought Deere's first diesel was a 730. I prefer red over green, but like them old Johnny Poppers. Anybody got a clue?

I think JD's first diesel was the "R". 1950's era, one lunger.

The "R" was the first diesel. The 435 is a 430 w/a 2 cylinder, two-cycle Detroit. Freind of mine has the engine and transmission from one in the shop. He is thinking of installing them on his 430.

The 730 was the "end" of the two-cylinder diesel production.

Muddy truck, muddy woman, ahh, that's what country's all about. Too bad Shania Twain had to pimp herself out with all that leaopard skin freak on clothing in her "don't impress me... blah blah bleck" video. I think she would look nice with a little "farm sweat" on her too.



My grandpa had a few of those old 700 series John Deeres on his farm. I used to think it was fitting, I couldn't tell which stuttered more when heated up, him or the tractor. I missed the chance to get the tractors when he passed away, I was in the gulf shooting arabs the first time. Family sent 'em off for scrap, Thanks for the pics, brings back some nice old memories of my youth.

Of all the JD diesels to show in that Queer A** video they some how picked the rarest one but I think it was pure luck not to mention I would rather listen to that screaming Detroit during the entire video than Big & Rich singing :-laf

There are times when I wonder if Gretchen really would be cool with getting dirty... or if she still likes trucks. I'm under the impression that a lot of these gals - once they get all rich-n-famous... that they don't enjoy the activities they used to. It's a shame.

Man, yall are talking MY language now! (redneck!) First, I have an 820 John Deere. It is definately a big two-popper and is a diesel, 1958 model "black dash". The "R" was the first diesel John Deere, then the 820, then the 730/830.

Next, Gretchen Wilson is HOT!! Long dark hair, nice rear, minimal warpaint and definately a good ole redneck woman! I love it! Polaris 4-wheelers and 4x4 trucks playin in the mud... although they are not diesels, she could probably be persuaded to upgrade!! Wish I could find myself that kinda chick! I just hope she does not go Hollywood like so many country singers do when they hit super stardom and forget their traditional roots. I have and really enjoy her album of traditional country music.

On the other hand, I also have Big and Rich's album, and although it sure ain't country, it is fun and I like it. The dancehalls are my second home and that kind of music is fun to line dance to. Pretty good driving music to keep me awake when the Red Bull wears off!

Gretchen got her start thanks to Big and Rich, so for that we ought to thank them!

This house is drying up the old bank account - I may have to get rid of one of the trucks eventually. I hope not, though. I've been doing some thinking (hence all the smoke in the room... )... we'll see where that leads me.

You have a sweet deal having 2 trucks. The house will come in time. You can't completely rebuild the place... like your doing in 6 months. Take your time... . keep the trucks... . Ask guys around the TDR... . you'd be supprised how many people can and will help... . can and will get CHEEP supplies... . etc!
