Performed the first oil & filter change on my new truck today. Everything was fine till I started. On my 96 2 turns out gave a good stream of oil into the 14 qt. drain pan. (the type with a 3/4" hole into the storage section) I loosened the plug 2 turns and it was draining slowly. I thought it would drain quicker if I just removed the plug all the way. I was right. ! This caused a 3 stage oil drain. The 1st stage splashes hot oil in your hair and eyes. 2nd stage exceeds the drain rate capacity of the drain pan. The 3rd stage (overflowing the drain pan onto the concrete driveway) happens very quickly. My 1st thought was will I get this cleaned up before my wife gets home? All is well. I will try some of that new concrete cleaner tomorrow when she's at work. I will use my old method next time. I would also love to see the biceps of the factory guy who installed my oil filter. I had to turn it 2 complete turns with a strap wrench before you could turn it by hand. Live and learn.
