I have just joined the registry, this is my first post to the forum and need some advice on two issues. (1) I have a 95 CTD, and would have been reading about this killer dowel pin problem. I would like to have the modification done to my truck, so this problem does not haunt me in the future, but I need to find a competent mechanic in the Atlanta area to fix up. I was given a name of a guy, who is in GA but real far from where I am. I will use him if I don't get any other feedback on a closer knowledgeable person. I am in Marietta. I have searched the forum and have seen the name of Jeff Garmon, but I do no have a phone number to get in touch with him.
(2) I luv my truck except for that for the automatic transmission. I bought the truck used with 60k miles 1. 5 years ago and within a few thousand miles after that I had to have the whole transmission rebuilt. Thank God, I got the dealer to throw in an after market warranty. How long do auto transmission's last ? It seems like I have no acceleration until the overdrive hookup, and I am told that is normal. The only thing I tow is a motorcycle trailer, the truck does not even know if is on there. Is there anything I can do to prolong the life of the transmission ?? I plan on keeping this truck a long time. I currently only have 92k miles on it with about 20K miles on the rebuilt transmission.
Thanks,
Bill
