Competition CP3 limit

Competition 0-60?

Well... ... ... only Diesel there, but it was fun anyway. Had never raced before and went to the track for the first time last night. It was really crowded so I only got three runs in so I've got some more practicing to do for sure. My first run was 14. 48@95mph. This was in 2wd leaving with no boost,no l/u switch, just floored it on the second yellow. My last two runs were in 4wd @8-10psi (stock output shaft) and were pretty much identical. This was the best run:

60'..... 2. 007

330... . 5. 883

1/8..... 9. 095@76. 49

1000... 11. 893

1/4..... 14. 21@96. 78

I was a little disappointed in the 4wd runs, I thought I'd drop a little more than that after seeing my 2wd time. So... . for you all that know how to break this thing down, what am I doing wrong? I know I need to do some more experimenting with the l/u switch in different RPM ranges but that will have to wait till next week. Is there any hope of 13's the way the truck sits now? Any help would be appreciated.

yea s/m aint right. with all that work you should be in the 13's but maybe i am wrong. you should be at 500hp which should get you in to the high 13's. i think with the set up you got with some tweaking and a good reaction time you will get there.

I think more than likely the main problem is that when you switched to 4x4 you did not lower 60ft times enough to make up for the loss on the top end.

I think if you left with 15-20 psi of boost you would see 13's.

Just FYI a reaction time make absolutely zero difference in et or mph. It does affect whether you win or loose though!:D

If you can shave another . 1 of of your 60ft you should be really close to the 13. 99. I think with your mods you should get there.

Depending on your converter and valvebody will depend on what you want to do with the L/U switch.

Hang in there and you will get 13's.

I would be careful about leaving at much higher than 10 psi of boost with a stock output shaft. My only suggestion is to play with the settings on your comp box. My truck ran fastest with TST on 4/4. If you find out that your fastest ET is on a lower setting, then its time for twins if you want to go that route.

Does anyone know if shifting back to 2wd after leaving the line in 4wd will disengage the 4wd with the pedal to the floor, or do you have to let off of it? Not trying to change the topic, just curious.

Adam,

I agree you should be in the 13's. The funny thing about racing and things like input shafts, different circumstances for everyone make it impossible to have a stone cold answer.

Depending on the fluid efficiency of your torque converter will determine the stress on your transmission shafts. More efficient means more stress on parts trying to build boost launched in 4wd. Lock-up is hard on parts but you will go fast especially if you lock early.

I only lock in 3rd & 4th in my 2500. It's at 450hp and runs 13. 80's at around 98 on a 1. 9x 60ft. on a 20 psi launch.

How much does your truck weigh? My 98 2500 QC 4x4 SWB is 6900 with me in it. Even if I use 7000 for you, you are coming out to about 430hp at the wheels, and I'd expect more. Your 60 foot should be under 2. 0 in 4wd. As a matter of fact I'd expect as good as 1. 8x's in the sixty and if you are around 500hp, about 102 mph in the 1/4 @ 7000 lbs.

Your ET would reflect the low boost leave, but your mph should still indicate your HP. That looks low to me so you may want to start there. Fuel filter good? Are you bogging out of the hole and aways down the track. Those kind if things. But I can tell you a 2000 24v with Suncoast triple lock, Edge Comp, and BD IV's ran upper 13's over and over, then to protect the transmission shafts, went to a 15psi launch and runs 14. 1's - 14. 2's.

Good Luck, you'll get it.

:D

If you're 500 hp you've got me beat pretty good, and I'm currently running at or below13. 10's. After my 1-2 shift, I do throw it out of 4x4 (which although it won't disengage the front end, it does stop driving the transfer case as I understand it). Immediately after that, I l/u. The l/u cuts about 4/10th's off my ET.

Your 60' needs to improve, which you'll need more boost for. Have your billet output shaft and a tow trailer lined up, then go ride it! :)

If your boost is high, you could have traction loss problems which is where I'm at currently.

Also make sure on launch that you are really jerking your brake foot off as you bury the accelerator, and make sure that's going to the floor.

Good luck and keep at it! :)

Thanks everybody, please keep it coming. Bill, I'm definately looking forward to next week. Rhonda, I really don't think I'm anywhere near 500 hp... . and I denfinately don't have you beat... . you've got one bad machine!!! I was kind of nervous this being my first time racing and all so I'm sure I could do better with yanking my foot off the brake better and all. I really need to get more practice so I can make things run more smoothly. David, as for my TC, I believe it is what they call a 44-3D which Joe said was about a 88-89%. I think the smartest upgrade I can do next is the output shaft and see how much I can shave off the '60 because I'm on the borderline of the HG and bigger injectors might be pushing it. Sound right? Anyways, thanks again and keep the info coming!!!
