Finally made it around to Cummins

Yep thats what I was thinking, THEY MAKE A WHOLE BUNCH OF MONEY ON IDIOTS BLOWING UP THEIR 68rfe trannys and these guys give them BANDAIDS of sorts so they can blow them up again and again and get paid more money.

ATS sells a bulletproof 68RFE for over ten grand but you can order a truck with the Aisin for 3000 instead.

:D the Aisin is fine as long as the power stays stock, then it lasts even if misused - raise the HP level significant it will fail PRIOR to an 68RFE.

That's why the pullers and racers don't use it, there is only few support for modding the Aisin but quiet a lot for the Chrysler Trannys.

Edit: for a stock truck that isn't raced you simply don't need a built transmission, the 68 will serve you well.

And that it is only good for 100'000M is a just plain stupid idea. Sorry.
There are hundreds of thousands trucks out on the road with way higher counts on the tach then this.

Yep I understand I just made up this truck on Ramtrucks.com and I could purchase it for about 65,900 with discounts and the 410 rear end can only be had on a dually or so the dealer says so oh well for me I would love to have the 410.
My 14000 pound trailer that I am looking at getting should be no problem with the 68 and 373 gearing?????

I have all the safety goodies on the truck but the wire for the trailer camera ups the price by almost two grand.

What is this
Trailer Camera Wiring (No Camera)
$395
With Trailer Camera Wiring, you can install an aftermarket camera to keep an eye on whatever you're towing.

Would that go on the back of the fifth wheel I guess???????

Sounds good, but do you really want/need the front bench seat?
The otherwise standard center console is a magic of its own, many many compartments and doors and connectors inside, and the space of a porsches trunk.

It just burns me up lol the wife wants the Limited for 78,300 but I can get the one above for about 65,900 sure the less priced one has the rfe and not so many bells but man over twelve grand WOW thats a load of Diesel I can buy lol.

I think you should buy my dream truck. Tradesman trim, 3500 SRW/SO engine, 4x4, 5.0 radio with Bluetooth and back up camera, rubber floor, HD vinyl seats. Take the extra 20+k you'll save and take your wife on one hell of a vacation.

Thank me later for the "benefits package" that follows :D

Stuart,
I have been pulling two different 5er's since I bought my truck for pulling a 5er across country. It is a 2008, 2500 Mega Cab, 6.7L Cummins, 68RFE Auto 4X4, with 3:73 differentials. I purchased my truck in Nov 2007 and have been puling a 5er since. I now have 126,300+ miles on the truck and the transmission has not been touched, except for servicing and a deep dish MAG-HYTEC transmission oil pan. My transmission normally sees 180F when I am towing and be 200F when I am in the mountains such as on I70 when I went to Utah in 2017. I do have gauges on my truck for Boost, EGT's and transmission temps.

I am towing a 2016,34RL Cedar Creek since the summer of 2015. I have scaled my truck and trailer combination on a Cat scale and I am heavy, 20,500 LBS total weight, with a rear axle load of 6,050 LBS when towing. I have changed out my stock tires and rims for summer towing tires. These are Nitto Dura Grappler Tire which is a LT285/70R/17 126S rated tire. This means the tire and my MICKEY THOMPSON Rims will support a load of 3415 LBS each at 70PSI.

So, what I am saying is a 3500 SRW truck with a 6.7L Cummins, 68RFE auto and the 3:73 differentials with 18" tires will pull your 14,000 LBS trailer with no problem.

The best I can tell, you can connect a wired camera from the trailer. I give my caveats this is my guess, not fact.

Cheers, Ron

yes the jayco that I am looking at has a in the back of the fifth wheel it has a mount for a camera it says it's already wired for a camera so I'm assuming and I'm not sure maybe you guys know better than I do maybe it's wired through the 7 pin connector that goes to the truck and that when you put it in reverse you put it in reverse it will show that rear camera on the back of the fifth wheel I'm assuming so but by getting that little option raises the price of your truck by about 1999 or 2000 dollars I don't know how I like to go with the Laramie one group and then if you want to get an IOU no more price on your truck and go for the latter me too but I like going for the Laramie one group what are my guys if you know the only thing I can figure it out is that these except for the jayco 377rlbh it is wired in the back for a camera but I thought you didn't have to use a wire I thought it was wireless most of the time????????

the real complaint shame and all this is that you can't get a 410 rear end with anything but a dually and that just stinks I just wish it would be so much better for the 68rfe transmission to have that 410 rear end and we put a lot less pressure on all those components in the transmission from what I understand of physics but I don't know if any of you guys know anything about that but the dealership said they told me that you can order a 410 without a dually ever???????

I have a Furrion wireless OBSERVATION camera I wired into and mounted the camera above the center rear clearance lamp on my RV. Works fine and I can see everything good on bicycles and tailgaters. Don't get the backup camera unless the only time you want to use it is backing up. Lower bandwidth and price will lose picture when driving. monitor plugs in my cigarette, ugh, 12v plug and sets center on dash.

BL, I'd go for the aftermarket wireless one, but if mama wants it, who's to argue... mama's always right. ;):p:D

Cheers, Ron
