Finally bit the bullet and joined the site after viewing for the last 4+ years. I have a 2001 that I just dropped off at the dealer for an oil leak coming out of the front timing cover, Less than 4K left on my 5yr/100K. Anyway I am considering upgrading to 4" exhaust from turbo back, since I am stock and do not have gauges will this help insure my temps keep under control or am I throwing good money away. I do pull a gooseneck on occasion between Northern Utah and Southern Arizona. I notice my water temps going above 200 on some of the big grades. Your input is appreciated. Thanks, Bill

An exhaust system will help your truck breath and may lower your exhaust temps a bit but on an otherwise stock truck you will notice very little diffrence. Water temp is a diffrent issue, usually not exhaust temp related. If you're seeing abnormally high water temps look for blockage of the radiator or a malfunctioning fan clutch. IMO 190° is the perfect operating temp and 200° is no prob if you're pulling hard on a grade and it cools back down after you've topped it.

Welcome to the site
