The '02 has 28000 on it and I was noticing a squeak that at first sounded like suspension noise. As it occurred in town where the street is all torn up for sewers, not a big surprise. I also was thinking the beast was feeling a little loose in the drive train, but dismissed it no big deal.

Then,on a low speed downshift, she sounded like a German half track from the old TV show ''Combat'' It had a half inch of rotation at the rear pumpkin. Two of the cups were gone and the other two held. Warranty fixed and life is good.

It still amazes me how much slop was in the drive train that I slowly grew accustomed to. Of course the Mighty Cummins took away all the noise that this thing made for at least a month

For you old guys. Sergeant Saunders [Vic Morrow] RIP

For your info, the tech said the u-joint failure is pretty common and they are seeing a lot of it on '03 trucks

Mine did the same thing. My second ujoint spun the caps again. Upon investigation, it turns out that the pinion yoke was spreading apart, allowing the ujoint ot have lateral whip. Scott at MassDiesel ordered the parts for me post haste. The original yoke had very deep scores in the sealing surface frm the seal. Stick with only the factory parts on this issue. there are a few updates on the parts and from what i had gathered the seal and new yoke must be of the newst revision, or they will leak... . Yep, I tested that theory out.

Me too

My first one went at about 25000 miles. I had it fixed the next day. I put one in that I can grease.
