The '02 has 28000 on it and I was noticing a squeak that at first sounded like suspension noise. As it occurred in town where the street is all torn up for sewers,not a big surprise. I also was thinking the beast was feeling a little loose in the drive train,but dismissed it no big deal.
Then,on a low speed downshift, she sounded like a German half track from the old TV show ''Combat'' It had a half inch of rotation at the rear pumpkin. Two of the cups were gone and the other two held. Warranty fixed and life is good.
It still amazes me how much slop was in the drive train that I slowly grew accustomed to. Of course the Mighty Cummins took away all the noise that this thing made for at least a month

For your info, the tech said the u-joint failure is pretty common and they are seeing a lot of it on '03 trucks
