I have a 1998 12V 4x4 that I just purchased and the 4WD Light flashes when its in 2wd and 4wd. It works perfect in 2WD and 4WD works great too. It seems to just be a sensor. Anyone know what part the sensor is and where its located?

Thanks!

down on the axel next to the CAD, pull it and lube it with your favorite sauce, they can get gumy with old gear oil. when out you can test it also and have someone watch the light in the cab for operation.

Pic of sensor and vacuum actuator. It was a pic I used last yr when asking what was up w my flashing 4wd light and then no 4wd at all soon after. Hopefully you resolve your problem with just lubing the sensor, new ones are cheap too. If your actuator fails I would strongly recommend a posi lock cable kit, does away w vacuum lines that can fail at the worst moment, ask me how I know!
