Fleetguard Oil filters

I have been using the Fleetguard LF3894 oil filters and getting from Geno's. I found a local dealer and stopped by to see if they had any. None in stock but they had the LF3935 - which they say is about the same. I went to the Fleetguard website and checked the catalog for the LF3894 and it tells me the following;

Upgrade of

LF3885 Stratapore Media

LF3935 Stratapore Media Upgrade

LF3959



So my question is since the LF3935 is listed and it looks like it was a previous version to the LF3894 would it hurt to use the LF3935? Is anyone aware of problems with LF3935? I'm just figuring they had some old stock left over and aren't going to order the LF3894 until they are out or is my assumtion wrong? Any opinons appreciated.

I was under the impression that the LF 3894 was the upgrade filter. I get mine from my local Cummins dealer and they always have plenty on the shelf. I don't know about the other #'s that you listed ; perhaps a knowledgeable person at Cummins could tell you the real info ..... Thomas

the LF3935 is the old Part # for a LF3959. these are the paper element filters.

The LF3894 is the only current number for the Stratopore filter for the Dodge.

The Fleetguard website must be confusing to read, but those are the real #'s and what they are. Lane, Cummins Northwest

So I guess it wouldn't hurt to use the 3935 or 3959 but the 3894 is the better filter -- right?

DO NOT USE the old filters on a 24v engine! The reason for the updated filters is because they thickened the wall of the cases because there were instances of the filters blowing out because of higher pressures on the 24v engine versus the 12v. ONLY use the newer updated filters on a 24v.

The LF 3935 and the LF 3959 have the thicker housing, it's the

LF 3349 that has the thin walled housing... ... . Lane
