I installed my Fluidampr finally today and wow what an ordeal this has been for me.

First off I wanted a 6K tach and a fliudampr, so the tach I picked from autometer required 4 signals from the damper and the damper only has 2 grooves in it. so I went to a local machine shop and asked if it was possible to add 2 more grooves in the damper so the tach would work. he sad no prob. but then I wasn’t to sure about the factory pick up and how it reads only 2 signals from the damper so I wanted to do some research before he milled the $320 part.

I told him hold off for now and ill let you know

So I started my research and the very next day he called me and said the part was done. :{ So now im stuck with it, now what do I do??

Well here is what I did.

I filled in half of each groove that was made, the inside towards the engine was filled and the other was left alone.

so now I have 2 grooves for the factory tach and 4 for the autometer tach :D

I took some picture of the process and also of the fabbed pick-up bracket for the autometer tach. Ill post pictures when i can

Step by step

Filled in the damper with a piece of flat stock then tigged it in. and smoothed it out<BR>

Here is the pick-up installed in the bracket with a hold down for the plug so it is not in the way of the belt.

I dont think it is.

i helped put a damper on DTroy's truck and i dont remember useing a relocating bracket.

but as for an aftermarket tach yes

yeah i was wondering if the tach install would be the same for a 24v as it is the 12v

BTW... nice job !!!

24 valvers use the cam gear for the crank position.

But you could slot the dampner for an aftermarket tach. The 24v doesn't use any sensors on the dampner and the Horschel Fluidampr doesn't come slotted.

Or you could add metal instead of removing it.
