I was able to pull the Mopar part numbers for the vibration damper for BOTH the 5. 9L and 6. 7L Cummins.
Old Elastomeric vibration damper for 5. 9 Cummins is Mopar part #5086735AA
New Viscous vibration damper for 6. 7 Cummins is Mopar part #68005166AA
Here are links to one of my favorite discount internet Mopar PArts houses that show the exploded diagrams--

All that being said, I have NOT been able to find a parts supplier that has BOTH dampers in stock and who could physically compare them and see if they are interchangeable or upgradeable. Maybe you guys can call around your favorite LARGE dealerships/supply houses and try to find someone to do so or even go down and take alook yourself and let us know what you find out. I am very interested in this thread because I will SOON be putting in an SBC Con-OFE clutch and replacing the DMF with their single piece flywheel, so I owuld like to find a way to install a viscous damper to help with NVH after the install. I am more then willing to use the Fluidampr, BUT if you go to the links that I quoted above, you wil see that the discount mopar prices are even LESS then the discounted Fluidampr price, substantially so if you can pick it up and avoid shipping charges from the discount supplier, so if it ios possible to use the oem viscous damper, then there is some money to be saved!!
Let's figure this out!!
PS--it seems that if someone could pull the oem cummins #, it might be more likely that a cummins supplier would have BOTH in stock. Don't know for sure if it IS a cummins part, BUT it is something else to look into.

Found a Mopar parts source online listing the 6. 7 damper for $270 DodgePartsMopar.com
There has to be a Cummins PN for the damper, anyone have a way to look it up?
Per discussion on Comp Diesel the 6. 7 damper will fit 5. 9s except for a little interference with the fan pulley. Shaving about . 08" off the shoulder of the damper will solve that, or finesse the fan pulley to shift its position a little.

.
Someone please provide an Engine Serial Number for a 6. 7 and I will check out the damper part number and price from Cummins in the morning. Will also compare part numbers for fan pulley between the 5. 9 and the 6. 7.

Vaughn, that's a good link... thanks.
I DON'T quite understand though if one HAS to change the fan pulley from a 5. 9 to a 6. 7 style and then the 6. 7 damper will fit on a 5. 9 motor, or can one ONLY use the 6. 7 damper and mill . 080" from the diameter ??
Is one method preferred over the other ??
HAve you done this mod yet, are you planning on doing it ??
That'd be great... if someone does not post in this thread, maybe I'll put up the request in the 6. 7L engine forum !!!
