I have an 04 2500 and it does not have fog lamps. I am looking into purchasing the Mopar foglamps for this truck. Is it possible to use this kit and install the factory switch for them or will I have to install seperate switch for them?
Yes my local dealer needs to order it cost 169. 00 and it states comes with new switch for headlights/fogs he said the book says 30 minutes to install I am getting them when I get ahead on my bills.
I got the fog light kit from Dodge for my 03 and it has it's own switch and wiring harness.
After installing the fog lights, I think you could replace the headlight switch with a headlight/fog light switch and attach the fog lights to the pig tails that are located near the fog light mountings. I just don't have the $70 if I'm wrong (cost of the new headlight/fog light switch).
I find my fogs to be very useful when it's dark, raining and the road is really black. They light up an area just in front of the truck and supplement the low beams very nicely IMO.
My truck also came without the fog lights. I had them installed and really like them at night like Prairie Dog said. My problem at first was that they supplied a seperate switch (a toggle) , but the way they installed it really makes it look factory. I'm not for sure if the pull switch would work or not. I questioned the service tech about that and he told me that he had installed around fifteen sets of lights on the 03's and that he had alway's had to use the toggle switch. Any way after I seen the switch in the kit I was satisfied with the install.
I just checked the fuse box on my truck that came without fog lamps, and there is a fog lamp fuse and relay. Can someone send me thier fog lamp capable headlight switch and I'll see if it works?
The truck I purchased three weeks ago did not have the fog lights on it. I checked to find a kit availabel from Dodge. Mike Croz did the install and it came out great. I have a small rocker switch to run the fog lights.
I got screwed out of my foglights by a bumbling salesman so I'm going to have to get mine after the fact. The switch included in the kit is a very quality OEM switch which would be acceptible to most Ram owners. You drill a hole in the flat spot on the dash just to the left of the steering column and install the switch there.
I DO want the OEM pull light switch assy and I would prefer to go this route. When I have the $$ to do it I want to replace the factory switch.
It still burns me they screwed up a $124 option and now I'll have to pay at least $169 to get what I wanted
For those of you that installed the aftermarket Dodge fog lights; since they are on a separate rocker switch, can you turn them on without the headlights also being on?
You asked about the wiring of the fog lamps. Specifically wether they can be on without the headlights being on. The answer is yes. It all depends on where you derive your power source from. Mine can be run with the key off, as well as the headlights off. They obviously can be run with the high beams on as well. Why limit yourself?
