i have an 01 sport and just the other day i noticed that both of my fog lights were out. the backlight on the switch to turn on/off the headlights/fogs has been out for about a year and like some of the other threads say it was in and out for a while and you could usually hit the dash and it would turn back on. but the fog light symbol will still illuminate when the lights are on but nothing else on the small panel will. i put silver stars in all my headlights and fogs and every two weeks or so my right fog would burn out. after replacing the $20 dollar buld twice i pulled the wires out and ran new wire into the bulb. that was months ago and has been fine since. . until i discovered both lights were out. however the bulbs are not fried. so i gotta think theres a deeper wiring issue. any ideas on where i should look first. . i would think that the backlight illumination on the switch and the fogs not working are not linked together bc it hasnt been an issue for the last year.

i havent had the time yet but im gona pull the dash apart and look at the wires running into the switch and see if theres anything visible like a wired pulled out but other than that im not sure where to start.

I had to replace the switch too on my 99 about 6 mos or so ago. Yes the switch does get hot. You can place a finger on it after being on for a while and feel the heat. I think I saw something on a set of relays for the fog lights that you can install (especially if you are running the Xenon lamps) that will basically turn the stock switch into a switch that activates the relay so all the amps are not going directly through the switch. Check Geno's catalogue as a starting place.

Light switch is a known problem on these. I bought an overlay harness that has its own relays and takes on the power handling for the light switch. I bought it from LMCtruck.com. I dont remember if they have a fog light option as well, but a new light switch and this overlay kit for the head lights should improve the problems significantly.

My headlight switch went, bought a replacement from LMC truck.

I too saw the relay harness for the headlights, but didn't see 'em for the foglights.

Did a thing to mine that has seemed to work well. .

The A/C Duct runs behind the Switch so I poked a hole in it so some cool air... or any air for that matter will blow on it to keep it a little cooler.

Cool, (no pun intended), that's good old American ingenuity!
