I recently installed HID lights in my fogs and high and low beam for my aftermarked headlights. I received the HID kit for the fog lights and installed them. They worked flawlessly. A few days later I received the kit for the high and low beams. The kit included a relay harness, which I installed on the low beams. Neither the fog or high beams are wired into a relay.

I noticed when I unlock the doors with the keyless entry, the fog lights turn on for about a second or two and turn off. It also happens if the doors are unlocked and I open them with the handle.

Any ideas? Thanks-Scott

Hey guys these HID's installed in the factory housings are a bad idea the metal halide bulbs light energy is different than that of a halogen bulb thus creating light scatter. SSalzer let someone else drive your truck at night and use another vehicle and go on a 2 lane road and see how blinding these are to you oncoming . This is a terrible "fix" . Do it right and by some actual housings out of a BMW , I did this and it works very nice.

Absolutely right... the ONLY safe way to do HID is to retrofit a pair of actual HID projectors into your oem headlight housings. Otherwise, the oem reflectors scatter light EVERYWHERE, including into oncoming drivers' eyes.

While still not legal to do, the HID retrofit solution is at least a SAFE way to do get HID lighting where it belong on the road... there is a reason that HID lights are called "projectors". . they use a lens to PRECISELY focus the intense light produced by the HID bulb to where it belongs on the road... reflectors cannot in any way approach that kind of precision.

There are several threads here on TDR with mymbers who have done this,

While it takes time and money, the results are OUTSTANDING and SAFE forward lighting!!
