i found these two opions on the web. they are for different brands but the theory is the same. the first is like bright box you can buy that will keep all the light on when you turn on high beams. the second is similar to the first but uses diodes to activate the relays.

hardwire low beam relay on all the time by attaching two legs of relay in fuse box together

wire fog,low and high beam relays with diodes attached from relay to relay in fuse box

You can also do what I did, in the PDC pull the fog relay put a jumper wire from pin 3 to pin 5. This worked on my 01.

I went back to Issue 69 and found that you jump from 30 to 87. Then check to make sure the fogs turn off when switch is off.

Thanks for the replies.

I have two fog lamp relays, fog lamp one and fog lamp two.

now what?

So you are saying to completely remove the relay?

Sorry I didn't know that a 98 had 2 relays. If you remove one at a time does the fogs go together or just one of them? If they both go out when one pulled jumper wire that one, if one at a time goes out you could try to jumper wire both relays. Let us know what happens.

I will look tomorrow. When i bought the truck the wires were severed. There are two neutrals and one hot that's how I put it together and it seems to work fine as it should from the factory.

This what I found.

Remove Fog Relay #2, cut off pin #2, then reinsert the relay.

from "Paul M. Anton" <pmanton@ix.netcom.com>
Two relays are used to control the fog lamps. The first relay actually turns the lights on and off. The second is the High Beam interlock relay. This relay is normally off and provides a path for the fog lights through its normally closed contacts.
Remove this relay and replace the normally closed contacts with a jumper. This can be made up with a couple of crimp on spade connectors and a short jumper wire. One of the spade connectors will have to be trimmed, since one of the slots in the relay socket is narrower than the other.
As I sit here in front of the computer, I seem to remember that the relay locations are marked on the cover of the fuse & relay block under the hood. I further think that there is a diagram of the pinouts on the relay itself.
