2500 & 3500 Dodge Ram gearing poll

How many Diesel trucks have you owned?

Ok, now, out of all you guys who answered the 'How many 1st Gen owners'. . Poll,

how many would be interested in purchasing (for a nominal fee)(not yet determined, maybe cost +) a VHS tape or some other similar item that explained how to properly tune and set up a VE pump for performance, as well as 'what this does if I adjust it only, what this looks like, what to expect if I do this, sort of thing. (ideas on included info welcome. )

This would be compiled by a LEADING name in the business you'd all know.

Since there are very few doing work on our 1st Gen trucks we may be able to get a few 'tricks of the trade' included since there is a fairly limited market for this and hence no major profit loss in revealing some of this stuff that we haven't already figured out ourselves, or been told by other members.

I'm working on this to see if us 1st Gen's can start hitting the 300+ HP range in our trucks, or maybe more if possible.

Whats your thoughts

Bob.

I would! If there is not enough interest at the $20 rate, I'm willing to bet that those of us who have the most interest would pony up so more. This is a fantastic idea! I would add " The Great One's " favored method of finding true TDC and the setting of injection pump timing. Anything and everything that should be done or is worth doing for these trucks. Seeing things done offers so much more than a written procedure.

Good thinking, Bob! Looks like all the Bob's are into it. :D

Bob

Sounds great! I agree on including timing information also.

For format, I would like to see either a CD with diagrams, notation, explanations and QT movies or DVD. The reason for this is for easy review of the information while I would be actually using it out in the garage.

TTT,

anyone else into this?? Pass the word around and lets get a good count so I can have a shot at making this go.

Thanks for your help/support guys.

BushWakr, you may want to mention this in the first gen forum. For me I know that half the time I come here that's all I look at.

Thanks again for your effort, Bob

Bob,

I answered your poll at the "other place" but I don't know if it went through so I voted again here.

Knowing where you live, I can guess at who might be in the video or have input. This is a great idea!:) I don't like to turn a screw if I'm not sure what it does. It also is sometimes hard to figure out just what someone is talking about without a picture. The old saying that "a picture is worth a thousand words" is a very true meaning. Thanks for your efforts here.

Ok guys, I'm assembling an email list so I can do a mail merge and send out info as it comes up.

I'd like to ask that you each drop me a quick email showing your email address so I can put everyone on one 'address book' to make mailing easier.

If you've already sent me an email requesting this you don't need to do it again.

When you get a spare minute you can drop me a note to confirm your address for me and include your 'proper name' so I can enter it correctly.

Thanks for your patience. I'm working on this as quickly as I can.

Bob.

Dfeland,

Yup, I waited and waited and when I saw you pull out, up she went...

;) ;) ;)

I'll add you to the list. Drop me a personal email and include your own email address. I'm going to use it to do a mail merge so I can keep everyone up to speed all in one shot instead of multiple PM's etc.

Thanks for your interest... BTW, I'd really like to hear ANY ideas you may have for content or extra attention.

Bob, how about also including any lessons learned on the best setups for these items - air filter, turbo, turbo housing, exhaust size, injectors, etc. It would be great if this type of info could be from dyno-proven experience. Would that be available from your source possibly? Not trying to make this project more difficult, just an idea. :D

Oh, something else just came to mind... I'm curious to know about the issue of turning up the VE pump as far as why it can shorten pump life (I'm guessing it has to do with higher internal pressures  ), how much is safe, and what can be done to minimize risk, if anything.

Thanks!

I'D GO FOR IT!

I really dig educational videos with topics I like. I'll put it right next to my pinion depth setting vid!
