Brods I do NOT type well... I doubt I will ever gain that skill. . Unlike Most vendors I prefer calling, if anyone wants to post my comments, like always their are free to do So. Nice Pictures.

TC, so what is YOUR ideal filter set up? Often your posts identify the WRONG set-up by other TDR members, but seem to rarely identify the CORRECT set-up. Based on your extensive experience, what is the correct filter set-up a feller should run for the greatest longevity and cleanest fuel?

Kry226. . Don't believe the Ratings or labels on filters UNLESS they are clearly rated by eficiency... I NOW for a fact that you cannot rely on ICF (Internally combustion Certified) every one that we tested or was found on destroy components allowed material or water threw. Proper filtering that will guarantee NO contamination is Auxiliary filtering or bypass filtering with NCC (None certified combustion) That 1% or less that fuel gets contaminated cannot be stop by ICF,even a fraction of contaminates gets threw its gonna cost $$$$ in repairs,I have to take the wife on a Horse ride I will continue with added info Later,I am getting that look form the wife... ... ... ..... You cannot just buy it. . No company has an off the self setup. You have to make it,but it is worth the effort. 1st Purchase filter head like this one http://zinga.com/zImages/SPINON_ZAF07.pdf or one of choice just make sure it has NO BYPASS OR THE BYPASS IS RATED DOUBLE OF MAX PUMP PRESSURE,then buy all the supporting hose and fittings, draw straw, coupling ETC, form Vulcan Performance,Drop fuel tank and install 2 ports, one for suction the other drop (Return),Vulcan also has the wiring relay,Now find ignition hot wire to hot relay,Now find ground on relay run Purchase on/off switch,RUN Ground into Cab,connect ground to correct terminal on switch then connect the other terminal to proper ground,Now you have In-Cab switch for pump. This switch will be used to run Auxiliary Pump. Purchase pump form Airdog/fass (Pump only) any pump of choice for correct year. . this should come with Relay and Wiring for correct year (No need to purchase relay when buying with Pump)

Now the tricky part you must find somewhere to mount all of this,In some cases just purchase bed tank and install proper piping and filter head with shut off nozzle and just pump from Auxiliary tank to Factory Tank.

Correct filter is what counts (example the AE-03AZL is a good filter for water and Particles) this is MY choice, it is so restrictive it takes a 15GPM pump down to 6-5 GPM See now why YOU cannot use this filter on direct injection filtering (it will kill most pumps in short order on direct injection filtering)

If you have a pump that does 3GPM you this rule with Proper filtering you will lose 2/3 of this ,So now you have 1GPM being filtered, With the In cab switch just run Pump for 1 hr and NOW you have filter fuel... The argument that now will start is "what if you get bad fuel" this is easy to over come just add pressure gage to inlet port on Auxiliary filter head, if it starts to raise stop Immediately Shut truck off and let the pump run and watch the gage,if the pressure continues to raise until Max's out pump change filter, check pressure again continue to do this until NORMAL pressure. Until like direct injection filtering YOU have NOT continue to pump the contaminates into injection system $$$$ Now just check the factory filter if it clean (In most case it always is Continue to run or change it) Now at fill ups you just need to run the Auxiliary Pump 1hr and @ 1GPM and you have clean fuel guaranteed, now you can run the pump (Auxiliary as much as you like) but why run it any longer then necessary, 15 gallons of Fuel 1/2 Run time @ 1GPM Etc.

It is good for water, as it's a water absorbing filter, but Zinga does not share your thoughts on particles. As I have stated before this filter is rated at 23 microns multi-pass, more than 3 times worse that OEM filtration.

http://www.zinga.com/zImages/SPINON_AQUAZORB.pdf

It wouldn't be a bad filter to run as the f/w sep, but is not sufficient to run as the final.

With the filters being designed for high flow the low flow on our engines won't be an issue. Even the 150 GPH pumps are only 2. 5 GPM, which will have about a 2 psi drop when new with warm fuel, I could easily see a 5 psi drop on cold fuel. I would use a 150 GPH pump, vs a 90 GPH pump with water absorbing media so that you can not have a psi drop at the CP3 under normal ops.

Not that we don't use hydraulic filters for fuel elsewhere (e. g. FASS using the HF6604), but why do they state "not for internal combustion engines"? Because they will block flow?

I'm wondering if this would be a better choice (for my auxiliary tank) than my Golden Rod? I could care less about the particulates, I'm interested in the water removal aspect... the only "clear" advantage my Golden Rod has that I can see is the clear filter housing. I assume the media (based on the Zinga description) is similar?

I am not sure, maybe Todd knows, but any of the filters we run will block flow when plugged.

Is your golden rod one of their absorbing filters?

I think the FASS is the only application with a hydraulic filter in a "kit", and it's unfortunate as hydraulic filters are rated multi-pass, not single pass.

EDIT: I am going to guess that it has to do with one of two things, or both. One is certification, the other is that these are filters designed for closed system application where repetition is used to filter the system, which offers higher flow than fuel filters designed to capture the contaminates on one pass as the system isn't closed.

Yep. . in todays world its a liability. . just think some idiot spins the filter on and waits until its so plugged it stalls on I 80 and someone hits the vehicle and is killed. . As far as the Gov's concern NO filter should allow complete blockage... YEP I just had ANOTHER call for complete Pump Injectors for CR. . and guest what Hmmm another" O I had listen to XXXXX" off the net with the factory filter removed. YEP The Insurance Company Denied Coverage BC/Factory system was Alter. I just can't belief People listen to this Crap or go to the point of putting faith in it. . #@$%!

I have went to the point of Challenging the social Network BUT Done have accepted. This just shows the truthfulness.

The gov may not want filters to not bypass (thou have never heard that anywhere but from you), but I cannot think of a single filter ever listed on any of the systems or forums that has an internal bypass, or external bypass. If the filter plugs it doesn't flow.

Well ... . Dump **** into your tank and report Back... I want video. . Not Type or hearsay. 1 QT of Water and 1 oz of let say 10 Mic material, You can purchase the ground Material form Most CNC shops for free,Or do I dig up my I can't handle the truth Vid AGAIN . By the way I was ask MY OPINION I don't see anyone asking for YOUR contradictions.

How Many Times Do I Need to mention this. . AD your setup works... But until its PROVE to Be infallible its just your understanding of things. AGAIN I don't care a rate's behind for your social NETWORK KNOWLEDGE... . I respect your Opinion,at times you want to dominate every thread. Is it impossible for YOU to show some curtsy and respect other's opinion(s)?

Bypass? I can show you plenty of filters and filter heads that bypass. However they're all lube, hydraulic, or coolant filters. My hydraulic filter head has a 25 psi bypass built in. This is because lube, hydraulic fluid and coolant are imperative to keep from ruining an engine, however if a fuel filter clogs it's no biggie. It just keeps you from going till you change it as opposed to burning Down your engine.

It's amazing how defensive you get over published facts... People as questions and you beat around the bush and then provide an opinion that doesn't match the manufacturers specs.

You can have your opinion all you want, but when it's the opposite of fact then yes I will comment on your opinion, or anyone who is providing advice that doesn't add up.

Exactly, but I have yet to find it for fuel.

If you don't have oil your motor is toast, if you don't have fuel it dies.

Publish Facts... AD NOT one of the manufactures have EVER support your CLAIMS. So why don't you just arrange a demonstration for US. I would post some carnage of what can happen. . Thier some legality involved, and just to prove you WRONG just is not Worth it.

Defensive... . Did you forget to look in the Mirror this Morning:-laf or do you forget who YOU really are... when typing.

Please enlighten us with your Phone # THAT WAY I WILL REFER ALL FILTRATION QUESTIONS TO YOU. . No more keyboard hiding. otherwise your just another stroker want-a-be,NOT man enough to get into the real Game.

WOW!!!ANYONE BEEN TO DISNEYLAND LATLEY??????

or See the SOUND OF MUSIC my favorite!!!!!!!!!!

How about those republicans aren't they doing just a bang up JOB :-laf

Yes, the hills are alive...

Thanks for posting back, TC. As for the lively discussion, I ain't touching that, but I sure am enjoying the info that's being discussed.

Im not taking sides, just wanna throw this out there. .

I've seen a BUNCH of diesel fuel systems... . and I mean a bunch... from old PC Engines up thru CR... So I've seen pressures from 400 psi. to 30K psi. .

I have never seen a fuel filter with a bypass. If I had EVER seen one, it would be laying in the bottom of a garbage can. A fuel filter with a bypass is almost as useful as "teets" on a boar hog!!!.

guess you really don't know when it's clogged

Oh you know when they are clogged all right, the engine will either lose power or quit.

Some Diesels are of one persuasion, some are the other.

I have driven, maintained, encountered both. Old NTC Cummins engines usually just quit with no warning, Detroit and CAT will lose power but keep running.

There is no way I would allow a bypass of any kind in a fuel system.

I'm with Wingate, not taking sides but telling you what I have seen with many Diesel engines over the years.

Mike. :)
