Oh you know when they are clogged all right, the engine will either lose power or quit.



Some Diesels are of one persuasion, some are the other.



I have driven, maintained, encountered both. Old NTC Cummins engines usually just quit with no warning, Detroit and CAT will lose power but keep running.



There is no way I would allow a bypass of any kind in a fuel system.



I'm with Wingate, not taking sides but telling you what I have seen with many Diesel engines over the years.

Their are Many Manufactures of Filters,Some clearly state NOT to be used for internal combustion Engines. . Its liability reasons Most States its illegal to run out of fuel on State Hwys, So manufactures Must protect themselves form being suited on Lack of LAW. . Watch clearly states that NOT being informative about the danger Put YOUR company at risk.

We have 1 Customer Call Bio-clean. . there units are mobile washers through out the Country,They were Spending $$$$$ Per-year in Injection components, They tried Every filter on the market with continue failures,Finally they Install Auxiliary filtering ,Before I left for FL Orlando (Yep I am in Disney Fort Wilderness With Friends and family) Bio-clean call and ordered some Components and mentioned it been years 3+ on ordering any Injection components,this order was for Routine maintenance,Auxiliary filtering has paid some Big dividends back to them,Auxiliary is Much more efficient and is always on the Job... O% of contaminates Make its way to the Injection system. What % of Direct Injection fuel is return to the Tank?Just think If you were at 10 MPG and You were traveling 70MPH at 30GPH rate. only 23 Gallons are returned... Now Keep in mind that all 30 Gallons Travel CP3 and Injector,Not your typical none use return. Thats why even a Very very small amount will kill CP3/Injector 100% is either used for combustion or cooling.

Most customers will flip the In-Cab Switch and filter the Fuel when Filling paying, using the restrooms ETC, 15 or 20 minutes of filtered fuel ,thats 50% of 30 gallons cleaned and dewatered, ( With Correct Filter)get the point.

I hear Ya,But In MN Emergency stopping ONLY. . Running out of fuel is completely avoidable (Unless gas gage is Broken) But the Law In MN Requires Gas gage to work,MN even had Highway helper that allowed 2 gallon at NO Charged when stranded on HWY. But again the welfare Queens started using the service as Full service fill (taking advantage of Kindness Like usually)Now they charge for it.

Huh?? Thats a new one on me..... It is against the law to obstruct traffic, but to run out of fuel... . ?

I have only ever run out of fuel in Maine and New Hampshire so that is the limit of my knowledge in regards to the law.



I never got written up for it, as a matter of fact the last time I had trouble was in NH, I wound up sitting in the left hand breakdown lane of a four lane highway as the traffic was too thick to get to the right while the big rig was shutting down from a clogged tank crossover line.



The NH trooper that stopped to check on me never mentioned a fine or anything, just wondered if I had someone on the way (which I did. ).



I went and grabbed a couple Dr. Peppers out of my cooler, gave him one and he spent the next hour or so teaching me how to run a radar gun. Also taught me how the frontal area of a vehicle affects what the radar picks up.

Running out of fuel sucked but I had a good time waiting there with him. :D



Off topic, but he also told me that he had only been back to work for a couple weeks, had been hurt on the job and laid up for 6 months.

He was sitting in the median of I-95 in NH which is wide and flat running radar on the Southbound traffic with the cruiser pointed to the North.

A guy in a Mercedes going Northbound fell asleep with his cruise control on 65mph, drifted into the median and took the Crown Vic Cruiser containing said trooper right in the a**!!!

The trooper never saw it coming, can you imagine how hard that hit?????

So as a result his outlook on life changed??



All I know is that he was a great guy and the question of legality or mention of a ticket never came up.

Publish Facts... AD NOT one of the manufactures have EVER support your CLAIMS. So why don't you just arrange a demonstration for US. I would post some carnage of what can happen. . Thier some legality involved, and just to prove you WRONG just is not Worth it.

None of the claims are MINE, even if you want to think that way. They are manufactures claims.



Nearly everything you have posted about filtration is all your opinion, an opinion that is not supported by the manufacturer of the filter. The only claim you have made that is correct is about the water absorption. I cannot recall a single claim about contaminate/particulate removal that was the same as a manufacturers specs.



My stance is not defensive in the least, I am not defending an opinion I am purely presents the facts.
 
Yep... Its My Opinion... Which is develop through Years of professional service to the Public and my Fellow Man... NOT paste and Copy or Market advertising. . If you claim they are facts then performed the procedure's to Prove that it is True and factual. YOU quote form the Best possible conditions or scenario's,or lab results how about some real world testing. . You leave out ALL the important and prudent info... DIRECT INJECTION FILTRATION IS NOT INFALLIBLE IT WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A SMALL % OF CONTAMINATES BY. YOU cannot grasp the concept of Promised 1/2 and double deliver. YOU always QUOTE the absolute BEST possible results,When challenged its dust and tail lights.



This discussion is pointless UNTIL you want to step up to the level that will be necessary to provide facts. . actual testing Your direct system VS Auxiliary filtering... I will be their and match any conditions you develop.



I do understand that you are making claims that are NOT yours. . So just get the place of origin or manufacture(s) to come to bat. . They won't appear BC their loop holes all over their testing methods... once exposed will cost $$$$$$$$$

The older lower pressure mechaincal engines would usually die out... The supply pressure was so low to begin with, it killed them. Thats when you had to change the filter and crack the lines to get them primed back up... That or some "liquid choke"!!. .

As the fuel systems progress up to where they are today, the EUI and HEUI systems won't shut down, but will lose power, black smoke a little more, but usually dont die out... Problem is, they use large volumes of return fuel for cooling the injectors, when the filter gets clogged, flow/pressure is down, return fuel volume is cut in half or worse, and it starts burning up injectors, usually, the ones furthest from the supply point go first.
