Newb but HAPPY

Frieghtiner/Cummins bus, died, no start, no wait to start light

I am waist deep (literally) in my next Ford Powerstroke job. This time it's to replace a power steering pump in a '11 6.7 F550. I didn't Dx it, but it has low output at idle (no steer assist). I am only doing a job.
OK, this current style F went to a grille in place nose like Dodge, and I can see why. The entire "cooling module" must come out to do any front engine work. There is a split cooling system with two belt driven pumps, and two separate cooling radiators, tanks etc. Once the rad pack was out, it really wasn't TOO bad. Here's a picture for now. Notice the Ford 6.7 is a reverse flow engine. Dig the EGR plumbing on the front of the right head.

Never mind the ford I have already seen a horror show today. Have any pictures you can post of the Duster ?

Dave

I just laugh when one of our Fords gets dragged in on the wrecker. Poor Ford techs all run and hide when they see us coming. You wouldnt believe what they went thru today to replace the washer fluid bottle on mine!

Was yours a 6.4? I forget. On that, it's the right battery box too.

Anyways, I got this back together and the pump was indeed bad.

That needs one of those eight(?) sheave pulleys for live-power to the front like the old 391 FT gassers!

Well $*!&.... I completely jinxed myself! Driving down the highway 2950 rpm and BAMM!!. One cough of white smoke out the exhaust and down it went! Had to get it wreckered in to the Ford house AGAIN!.
Im betting on a HPFP, which means they will have to disassemble the truck and replace the entire fuel system! Will know for sure by tomorrow afternoon (hopefully)
WTG FORD!

No, mine is the 2011 6.7L POS, i mean PSD

I was driving the famous 7.3 Ford work truck and heard a boom like that. When I looked in the rear view mirror connecting rods and pistons were following me :--)

Dave

When you were running at 2950 RPM is that passing/accelerating engine speed or is that cruising speed?

Its at 125K on truck...

You had a Duramax before this one correct? What mileage was it retired at? I'm surprised that they haven't just replaced this truck for you at this point. The total cost of ownership when you factor the repairs and downtime has to be staggering.

Ok. Let me get this straight... You ventilated the work rig which is a '11 ford 6.7 with 125k miles while it was spinning at that speed? I hope you get a new rig out of this. Really. Ya know, some time ago my place nearly got sterling (rams). I'm glad they stuck with fords mainly because these are treated as if nobody owns em and I'd hate to see a great truck go to waste. On the other hand, seems you have some accountability with yours.
