What would have to be done to put a ZF-6spd in to my 1990 Dodge W250HD it has a getrag 5er and the 205 transfer case. as usual but I want a nother split and the ZF has lower gears all the way through. hat yall think? worth it or not? also consiquenses?

This is only what I have been told(by a reputable clutch and driveline mfr. ), but you would be better off to spend your money that you would spend on adapters, and put it towards a NV5600. It will bolt directly up to the Cummins, but I am not sure about the 205. I had considered the ZF transmission for my project, but decided against it. The adapter I found was around $800. I bought an '03 NV5600 with clutch, pressure, plate, slave cylinder, and bellhousing for 2600 bucks, but it is very low milage and came with a 1 year warranty. I am sure you can find a cheaper one than I did, but I wanted the low miles and the warranty. Some of the other guys and gals on here could probably tell you if the 205 will bolt up and fit the output shaft of the transmission. If you go with flywheel used with the 5600 you can use a larger clutch too. -Nicholas

ok thats kinda what I figured. the nv5600's didnt have any problems like the 4500 did they? I havent heard any. I think I'd probly go with an earlier nv5600 with the 1. 25 shaft cause My truck is and will be mostly stock, maybe 300hp at the most, and getrags and 45's have been taking it on 1. 25's so why not the 56?

I haven't heard of any real problems with the 5600, but I am sure like anything else, it has a weakness somewhere. It will probably take a heck of alot more to find it. If you aren' t going ballistic with your engine, I am sure the smaller input shaft will do just fine. I went ahead with the 03 NV5600 for the afore mentioned reasons, but I am planning on upping the power, and towing with my project. -Nicholas
