Indian food for thought; diesel for dessert.

So Many CTD's...

Hope it's better then the powerjokes, but I have my doubts.

They're still talking about a V configuration, which means it'll never come close to the Cummins.

Read all about it, Scorpion

The logic continues to astound me. They've had unprecedented trouble with an engine made by an otherwise reliable engine manufacturer, and so they think going in-house will make things better. It always make me think of that saying "you're the only common link in all of your failed relationships. " I see they chose to go with a 6. 7, perhaps they're hoping for a little faith-by-association . . .

Trust me when I tell you that the Navistar VT365 (6. 0L) is just as bad in the International applications as it was for Ford. We have 25 of them at work in medium duty Internationals and they have been a complete nightmare. I can't give Ford the direct blame in that case.

Those are some mighty big numbers they're claiming. If this engine is at all reliable, it could sell a lot. Of course, if Government Motors and Chriat aren't in the full size truck game in 2011, it will be a mute point.

ford has turned out some fine diesel engines over the years, i hope this one is no exception. i left ford because of the issues the 6. 0 engines were having in 03/04, i hope the aluminum heads this new engine is suppose to have dosent present any issues.

I can't recall any find diesel engines furd has turned out. In fact I don't know of any good gas engines furd has ever had.

well lets see. there's the 6. 6 and 7. 8 engine built in fords brazilian plant for the tractors and medium fords. there quite a few 3 and 4 cylinder tractor engines of various sizes , that were very good engines as well. tell me, how many tractors, did chrysler produce. what about diesel engines? when was the last time they even produced a medium truck?

The 300 was quite possibly the best I6 gasser ever in a pickup.

I am guessing your post is purely jest. Ford has had a few great gassers... 352, 428 included

Roller cam 302, 427, 428, 429 Boss..... You can't kill one of their 300ci 6'ers!

By the way I am a chevy/chrysler guy... .

ford did their homework on this engine. the 6. 4 was 15% over engineered and matt at sparten diesel performance, the guy who designed the engine just put down an 11. 44 sec pass on nitrous with a stock truck and transmission. The new 6. 7 scorpion is 275% over engineered. When i buy my new truck its going to be between the cummins and the scorpion. also matt already has tunes ready for that truck and word is he is making tunes for the cummins engines as well.

"It's raised hood is taller across it's entire length" Hmmm... ... ... Wouldn't it be cool if it was a 6. 7l we are real familiar with? X-Ford driver who's finding it harder to go back every mile.

Having had two bad experiences with furd, an F250 and a Explorer, both gasser, I have no respect, or use, for anything furd does and will never have another.

I am a happy owner of a 2005 Ford Excursion with the 6. 0, 50K miles and no troubles yet. Just drove Oregon to Michigan and back towing and it worked great, got told by my wife several times to slow down on the hills. The state trooper in ID did get me to slow down for a while:))

I have been looking at replacing my 2005 Dodge with the new HD Dodges coming in December/January and knowing that Ford will have a new engine only helps in negotiating the price. Compitition is good for the consumers. Yes I will drive the other brands. I love the Cummins but there is more to the truck then the motor.

What is the source of your "overengineered" comments?

Why would we care what engines Furd sold in Brazil or what tractor engines Furd sold?

If they were good why didn't Furd put them in the Furd pickups of recent years?
