More changes?

Hello out their

Yo Hoot

I understand what you are saying and all, but I do have to agree with Mwilson and HH. As much as it is frustrating to not have ones thread working, and also difficulties posting; sometimes there is much more going on in the background than we know. Running a site this size is a huge undertaking and all so we must be mindful. And one never knows what is going on in Steve's life either...

We are listening. We had a hardware failure this week causing some, but not all, of the issues. It is back online, and we are working on some changes that will minimize these types of problems in the future. Give us a couple of weeks to get things taken care of. Just like most of you, we work on a limited budget with limited resources, so it can take us a little time to get problems fixed. But I can assure you, we are listening.

We should have posted sooner, and Steve drafted a very nice, detailed explanation. I was just wanting to shorten it up a bit before posting. The bottom line - hardware failure and ongoing issues with software upgrade being worked through.

Never hesitate to email me directly at rpatton@ix.netcom.com with problems. I check email daily (if not almost hourly).

Thanks again!

Robin Patton

Whoa! Things are looking a little more different again in TDR land!

... bear with me, I am not the most computer geek-dude, tech savvy kinda' person... In fact- I would have a better conversation with Steve on how to build an awesome humidor before trying to understand IT and computer bull****.

... but I just updated my web browser... and first time I log onto TDR it looks different. Now I have been following the upgrades herein as related to this forum, but at the risk of sounding Polish... did something happen again here in the past week or so??? It is looking a little different when I log on.

Is the appearance that I am seeing due to my browser update or did 'yall do something different as to the appearance here on TDR?

I have not changed ANYTHING in TDR settings. Why do I see things of which I am not familiar?

Geez... now my "preview" visual before I post is appearing in font color "red. "

I do not mind changing for the better, but am I seeing things or do I need to lay off the Jack?

Horizontal slide bar...

I don't think it's just me. Whatever code is used to size the width of the window large enough to eliminate horizontal slide seems to be off (content formatting). All other web sites run the standard width where beyond this point, the window can get wider, but the content on a page doesn't, and the horizontal scroll bar disappears. TDR seems to have lost this and the result is as you scroll down, any horizontal movement in the mouse causes the content to move back & forth laterally. Even on a full width window, I have the scroll bar, this on a 27" monitor. I'm running the latest Mac, 10. 8. 3, and this is true of both Firefox & Chrome, as well as Safari which I don't use.

Running, and updating a site is hard work, and under appreciated. I salute Steve for keeping this thing going!

X2!!!! The site works just fine for me and for $30 bucks a year, this site and the magazine are a hell of a good value.

Some people just enjoy complaining, I guess.

I thought I had read about this in an earlier post but now I can't find it. Why is the site SO slow in the mornings? I try to view new posts between cooking breakfast and taking the kids to school @ 7:00 AM central time and it just sits there searching. Seems like I read something about a backup scheduled for that time or something?

Yes, the formatting of the screen to allow the horizontal slide bar is irksome, to put it mildly. Anytime I move my finger over the mouse pad the screen moves, but only to the left, I then have to manually center it.

I can adjust my mouse pad sensitivity, but it only behaves this way on TDR's site.

Cant seem to download any Pictures Did something change in the procedure? I have tried on other sites and my end works like it should, just wondering if I had missed something other than the boat that may have changed.

Not even as much as a UP YOURS BIG!!!! Thanks I really appreciate the gesture

Big Nasty you have to click on "add files" after you click "manage attachments" it is on right side above existing files. Or select photo from exiting files. If you have a photo already in the existing files (photos) it mite not download/upload.

Where exactly are you trying to download a picture from? Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I've been sick all week. I've been battling an auto immune disorder since december and they upped my chemo last week and it really sent me for a loop this week.

I tried it just now and have downloaded many pictures the same way but it wont download them the little circle that chases its own tail above Add Files just keeps going around and around like it wants to download but it goes on forever. I thought that with some of the problems that the site has had in recent months that maybe something in the procedure had changed that I was not aware of

Ok, that's uploading - not downloading. Downloading is you taking a picture that's on the site now and downloading it to your PC. If you want to put a picture on the site that's uploading. Now, are you trying to upload to a post on the forums or to the photo gallery? What kind of picture is it (jpg, gif, etc)? How big is the file (right click on the file and go to properties)?

Gosh, Steve. I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope your doctor and you get that under control. Best wishes.

That is a pretty large image but it should still work. The system is going to resize it down to 112k and 560 x 800. Try uploading just a single image and let it sit for say 10 minutes to see if it ever goes or if it's just slow - this will help us trouble shoot it.
