Free Cold Weather High Idle from Dodge!

Anyone have any more info on this? Someone posted on the DTR website here.



Sounds pretty slick. Think I'll try to get it done with the PCM harness / transmission line recalls.

Doesn't our trucks automatically go into cold weather high idle mode? I'm pretty sure mine does as long as I don't touch the brake or go pedal.

Mine idles up to 1000 in cold temp's right off the bat.

Are you talking about cold weather high idle or this hit the cruse and set to egt high idle?



If its true I think that would be a great idea for when I leave it running while doing deliverys.

Nope, I won my truck in a contest.



Of course I bought my truck in the first place, but adding a high idler to most trucks costs extra money and requires extra hardware. Free is free, doesn't matter how much was spent originally does it?



Anyway, apparently people are not reading the post, this TSB is for a 1500 rpm high idle using the cruise control buttons WHICH NO ONE HAS FROM THE FACTORY by default. It has to be enabled through a DRB tool.

I called up my dealer today to see if he knew anything about it. Nope haddent heard about it but he said that if I found out more info on it he could check into it. So what would I need to tell him?

Looks like if I tell them its for TSB 18-004-04 and you have to turn the function on with the DRB.

I've seen the TSB and it's more involved than just turning on an option on the DRB. The TSB allows for 0. 8 hrs. After my dealer saw this he said it involves a flash and then told me he wants to talk to STAR before he does it to my truck. I'm going back to talk to him tomorrow at noon.



I think this will be a great option to have.

cool thanks RankRam, I just found that I have a recall for the transmission line so I think Ill run up there tomarow to see what they can do with that and see what they say when I tell them about this one now that I have a TSB #.

I am getting the auto transmission cooling line recall done tomorrow. I also mentioned the high idle TSB and the service adviser looked it up and tried to tell me it is for the people up north where it takes a long time to warm the truck up. I told him I thought it would help here for maintaining combustion temperatures during extended idle times. He said we would visit with the tech when I get there tomorrow and get his thoughts on it.

Tell him you bought the truck to drive and the places drive are sometimes "up north".

Cool RankRam let us know, I just stoped by the dealer and they set me up with an apotment on Monday morning so they should do it then, the guy at the desk had to talk to a mechanic to see if he could see what needed to be done. Hopefully this will work, and it will be just another free perk that I didnt know about when I bought the truck, kind of like that middle set storage compartment. For some reason my dealer forgot to show me this and a friend told me about it the first week I got it. Its like getting an extra peace of gum form the gum ball machine
