Wilson Intake System

I am a rancher and live at 7,500 feet in Colorado. I haul 14,000+ GVWR loads of hay and other materials. The annual emissions test requires a dyno test. So, I have a base line. If the Wilson intake really works, it will work here and the dyno test will prove it.

Wilson Intake

I am a proud owner of a 06 ram sport QC G56 and would love to install the intake manifold as it is a work of art for sure! It would definitly be evaluated before and after the install as well as how long and easy and of course FUN it was to install onto the truck with pictures taken and posted of everything. I am expecting very good gains with this intake as it will be working along side a htt turbo DD 90hp injectors AEM intake, 5 inch turbo back, stage 3 CP3, smarty P. O. D stacked with Edge EZ box, SB DD clutch, CFM intake manifold (getting sold if I win) and all the necessary gauges in the cab and many other performance parts. Maybe I will win cause im just a great guy! lol! Hey you should pick me cause eat drink and sleep with diesel all over me! lol! You should pick me cause it will give me something to write about! Im slapping in the wilson manifold and going out on the town and im gonna blow away all the rice rockets in my area worse than I did last time!! lol I love it. Their mugshots:eek: are priceless while my truck is passing them with ease! lol! Thanks for reading... ... ... Kenny:-laf

I am just your average Joe that would like a chance to test something like this that I could never get the wife to let me buy. I am a warrant office in the Army and I am always going to a school on the other side of the country so I put some empty Highway miles on, I buy surplus military equipment and usually make a 300 to 400 mile trip for that pulling 8000 to 10000 lbs, and I live just on the other side on the city so I have a 6 mile city drive every day. So I have just about every type of driving to do. I have a dyno 4 miles from the house, a digital camera, and I am a ASE certified. I have done many a projects and would be glad to write up and detailed install with any tricks I find and lots of follow ups to give you real world findings. It also gives me an excuse to go run the dyno.

Mr. Patton,

Some of the responses are quite lengthly. Mine will shot and sweet. I hope?

My second CTD is a 2003 quad cab long box, auto, 3. 73, with 85,000 miles on it.

It's just getting broke in. I live here in Michigan, where jobs are golden, if you have one.

Well... . Just got unemployed after 19 1/2 yrs. What a big bite in the rear end.

My truck has been good to me, so far. Can't seem to get any better than 19MPG empty

or 11 towing our 5th wheel trailer. Would like to try your product and report back to you and the company with I know would be good results. Do you make a manifold for a

big block Chrysler? I have a 67 Dodge Coronet that turns high 9's.

Thank you,

Doc Schwarz

What about 2nd gen 12 valve trucks like my early 1998? I'd love to test it and report my findings! Can I paint it RED like my truck? Thanks, HerbW

Well hello,As a new member to the forum I would like to evaluate this intake. I have much time on my hands and a low mileage 37,000 stock 2003 HO dually. Fair and honest I am, integrity is my middle name. Thanks for the chance, Michael.

Entry for Wilson's Intake

Thank you Wilson for the opportunity to test a product and thank you Robin for making this painless... :)

I have two Dodge 5. 9's

The first is my work truck/daily driver 2005 SLT 3500 4x4 QC SWB. It is currently stock except for the Firestone air bags & 35" BFG AT tires. I work in the oil fields in New Mexico and commute every day from Colorado. My truck is fully loaded in the cab & bed with many tools, parts, an air compressor, 72 gallons of oil, coolant and other liquids too. We have to use our personal trucks for work, so durability, fuel mileage and power for the mud and sand pits are very important to me getting to work and more important, back home to the family. Without this truck able to do it's duty reliably, my employment would suffer, and in this economy, I am thankfull to God to keep me and my rig going each day.

My other is a 2007. 5 5. 9 2500 4x4 QC SWB also. This is my wifes DD in the winter time as well as the rig we take to haul our Jeep on a trailer to 4-wheel and road trips / camping etc. I run a Superchips Flash-Pac programmer on it for more power and better mileage.

Thank you for your consideration.

This is a contest that is all about the FLOW! You need to be able to breathe in deeply and smoothly to value the power that comes from filling your engine with air. The power comes from deep within allowing that air to mix with the fuel and explode into an amazing display of strength. The Cummins actually wants to pull something so that it can show you just what you have done for it. It is at this point that you marvel that air and flow can make such a difference. It is all about the flow! ... Brian

hmmmm a sentence or two... .

lets get this product to market and out into some real world testing & applications. Let the average consumer test & evaluate on a average truck; thatd be something i can do!

I was always told that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but that can't be right because as I sit here and look out the window spring is here. Things are greening up and now TDR and Wilson are going to give away an intake to a member test. Man of how much greener can it get. I know I am not the best candidate for the intake, but I do have do have two different 3rd generation trucks to test with. One of which all it does is pull a loaded LQ horse trailer (16-19k of trailer depending on the number horses) every weekend. I would love the opportunity to give back to the TDR and its members as they have saved me countless thousands on labor rates and useless parts.

Let’s see, a couple of sentences:

I have an ’06 CTD that is stock except for the intake and have been surveying the intake elbows for a while with the hope of reducing EGTs, better HP/TQ for towing my 15K 5th wheel and maybe even a little better mileage.
<O:p</O:p
I am excited enough about what I’ve read so far about the Thrasher that I will probably get one even if I don’t win the contest. My interest at this point is in performance increases without changing the fueling of the truck. I can document with pictures, step-by-step install experiences and I have access to a dyno locally for before and after numbers. Also, since my truck is a daily driver, I can easily record the difference in mileage.
<O:p</O:p
This is my second CTD, with the previous one being a ’97 12v that I’ve regretted selling. I have spent my career (30+ yrs) evaluating Navy weapons and the related support equipment, primarily involving test methods and calibration. So, my intent would be to report differences in performance related only to the product and provide a fair evaluation.

HI,

I would really like to test your manafoild on my stock 04. I have just gotten this truck that doubles as a daily driver to work, (I do product testing) 500 miles per week plus my other jobs. I also do a sideline of planting grass/ lawn leveling ect with a 50 hp compact tractor for my customers. I also build cabinets part time (wifes full time job), deliver and install them as well. I use two GN trailers that are ued a lot for hauling tractor and equipment around as well as cabinets.

My truck does not quite get 19 MPG but in time I am planning on trying to get mileage up as much as possible. Your manifold sounds like it could help.

Thank you for your consideration and the opportunity to apply for a sweet deal

I currentlly own a very stock 03 Dually, and I would definately appreciate the chance to evaluate this product. Many times I read manufacturers claims about their product and wonder how did they come up with these numbers. Being a part of the testing of a product for other Dodge owners would be an honor.

Robert,

Thank you for giving all TDR members the opportunity to complete a real world evaluation of Wilson’s Thrasher. You and I talked last year at the DHRA FASS Nationals about accurate fuel economy advantages from all the products on the market. Seems most of the time, we modify our rigs with multiple components in the same shop visit. Whether it’s a turbocharger and a set of injectors, or an intake and an intercooler; we rarely evaluate the horsepower and fuel economy variation of one product. I have a bigger turbo, ATS manifold, AFE stage II and an Edge Attitude combined with Smarty software on my 2003. I’ve tracked nearly every gallon in a spreadsheet with fuel economy data. Showing an advantage with Wilson’s intake will be fun. I also have access to a chassis dyno to track the before and after horsepower numbers, especially around the cruise sweet spot (2,000-2,100 RPM). I look forward to this evaluation and hope to use my engineering and marketing background to provide TDR with an accurate assessment of Wilson’s Thrasher.

Thank you Robin and thank you Wilson's for offering up this promotional evaluation. I would be very appreciative for the opportunity to evaluate the Thrasher Intake on the vehicle in my signature. Having been an ASE master tech and now a staff engineer for a gas powered toy manufacturer, I am well acquainted with performance modifications and the quantifiable measurement of the same (I ran a chassis dyno for may years in my first career. ) I also have tracked every gallon of diesel in my truck and could provide accurate and unbiased feedback to fellow TDR members on my experience with the Thrasher manifold. Since I have tracked my truck's performance with regular dyno tests, I believe that this would provide a very good basis for A-B testing. Thanks again for the opportunity.

i would like to try out to be a tdr correspondent and compare the wilson thrasher intake to my present intake setup (cfm air intake and heater grid delete spacer plate and a afe stage 2 cold air filter system) and to the original factory equipment and different smarty settings. i would dyno each combination and my last dyno run was made about in march 2009 and would use the same dyno. also i would have my wife write the article because i know i need help in the writing department

Mr. Patton,

Why should I be selected to test the Wilson Thrasher Intake Manifold? Well, let me list the reasons it would be great to put on my '03 3500 4x4:

1. I have loads of options to put behind it(or options of loads?). We can put a load on my 43ft tandem flatbed, one of my livestock trailers, a car hauler trailer, or maybe even in the bed. If Wilson wants, we can even tie it to a Chevy or Ford and drag it around with my Dodge. I'm sure we can find one at Wal-Mart. We can test on and off the road, as I'm usually on the road until I get where I'm going, and then we "turn off the paved road" for the other half of the trip, where we unload our horses... ... .

2. I can find a dyno to run it on. If I get a free intake like this, I'll make it a point to find one, and with DFW, Texas just down the interstate, I'm sure I can find someone to accomodate me easily. I know two people who already do the testing, but I'll have to call. Last time I smoked up their shops so bad, I don't know if I'll be invited back(the exhaust tubes are only 3").

3. It will match the Twin Ram Intake on my DOD(Dirty Old Dodge), the '97 November cover girl on the TDR Calender(thanks for putting her in there, it makes me proud every time I look at it!)

4. It will match the Twin Ram intake I'm trying to modify to put on my '93 350 4x4(may have to put a p-pump on it to get it to work, dang the luck!)

5. It would work well with the new injector nozzles, TST Powermax, Southbend clutch, Holley Black fuel pump, and my right foot.

6. My right foot is size 13EE.

7. I weigh 280 pounds, so pushing my right foot is not a problem, except for the floorboard dents.

8. I know the county Sherriff and most of his deputies very well.

9. I know which Sherriff's cars have radar.

10. This would be a good excuse to put a new turbo on the truck when we get done testing the intake. More air in, more air out.

11. I used an oversized Southbend clutch when I put it in, so I need to use that extra potential.

12. I'm a tire dealer, so if Wilson wants a burnout picture, we can accommodate them, too.

13. No one in the county knows my silver '03 and who drives it yet, so it's a good time to get away with some testing.

If these are not enough reasons, please email me and I'll be sure to think up some more. Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks, and God bless you and yours.

Robin,

I own an 02 5. 9 not one of the 03-07's, but a very good friend of mine does. We are always tinkering around the trucks to find ways to make them faster, more efficient, haul more and just more pleasant to drive. I think your plan of allowing the guys in the field (per say) to do the testing, evaluation and report is a great idea. I think this shows the Wilson companies willingness to work with its customers and get their opinions. Thank you, for your time and the opportunity.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for this. I have been looking at intakes as I want to upgrade to a newer (heavier) trailer but would like to lower my EGT first. My 05 has been trouble free to this point and I hope that it lasts as long as my 91 (still prurring along)
