First, not draining your water separator is just stupid... I suppose you would blame the FASS if you sucked a bunch of water into the IP?

I didn't say that I was blaming anything on the FASS, all I was looking for was some direction on what might be causing the noise, which I got from Dan.

You response was a lot of help though

My response was exactly correct... like I stated in a previous post... you can tell someone to do something and them actually doing it are two different things... you are a good example... the FASS states to drain it every 500 miles IIRC... you haven't drained it is 20k?? Do you hate your truck?

1300+ posts in less than a year... I guess I should be humbled by your vast knowlege of all things mechanical.

If I had the orignal paperwork on the FASS I might have been able to read what it said. And since it has been making this noise since day one I am quite sure it has nothing to do with the WS filter.

I don't hate my truck, I hate a--holes like you who make rude responses to posts from people just looking for an answer to a question.

You are right Dan, and my apologies if I over reacted to Steve's post.

I have gained a wealth of knowledge on this site and I owe all of the members a debt of gratitude.

Thanks for helping to set me straight.

Diesel Dan,

It was referenced to in the troubleshooting manual I found online in section 3b. It said to refer to this "service topic" for sticking brushes.

Thanks,

Dan

Yes, 1300 post in a year... thank you very much for pointing that out, I didn't even realize that until now. Read some of my threads, I don't post for the fun of it... a good percentage of my posts actually mean something...

While I don't know as much as some of these guys, I can hold my own on most topics.

And if you haven't drained the WS, how do you know IT isn't your restriction??? It might be completely full of crud. Mine had a good amount of junk in it within the first two tanks, not to mention all the sand I have drained out of it in recent...

But this is just another useless post/thread of mine to post-***** it up... has no meaning, no information... so why did you read it? :-laf

Oh, and another rude response would be: "check your fuel pressure lately?"

I found that running the FASS at higher than needed pressures also causes excessive noise (mine came to me running 25psi)... changing that to a 12 or even my current 15psi setup (Thanks again Dan!!) really quieted the thing up... if you don't need 25psi, don't run 25psi... run what you need.

Or, have you checked the pickup in the tank? It might be plugged...

Mine started noisey and has continually gotten quieter... I also have over 30k on mine too... it currently isn't much louder than the OEM pump.

But, this might be construed as another post of useless information again... I'd better delete it... you wouldn't want it anyway.

Apparently you are as stupid as you are rude... if you read MY post you would have seen that I run a constant 15PSI.

Sorry Dan, this guy really is an a-- hole!!!

Thank you for that compliment... at least I know my way around a FASS... and can figure stuff out on my own... :D I'm far from stupid... I might be rude, but that's only when provoked!

If your running 15psi and not cavitating... then it might just be noisey. I'm sure not all are noisey and not all are going to be quiet... or quiet up over time (since you say you already have 20k on it)... mine has progressively gotten quieter since new... I retract my 30k statement... that is on the filter itself... I have around 40k on the FASS currently... it only recently (last month or so) started quieting up some...

And have you checked ANY of the things that might be causing the problem mentioned already?? You know, the restricted pick-up? Plugged WS? Plugged filter?

If you think the FASS itself is noisey, have you considered placing a piece of rubber between the FASS mount and the truck's frame for a little isolation??

You started the name calling... I actually think it is pretty funny that you got as bent as you did over this! Oh, and one more thing: I've been called a lot worse by better people.
