Question about my torque converter

Since I have the Dynatrac free-spin kit. My the notched ring that the Front abs sensor reads off of is exposed. A little grease from the install and some dirt/gravel looked like they have wrecked my sensors. When I got my abs codes read it said a malfunction at both front abs sensors. Where is the best place to buy them Geno's only has the rear sensor. Has any other dyna trac conversion had this trouble. I was thinking of trying to seal off the area with a bit of electrical tape. I like abs when it is icy out and hate having the lights on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just replaced the RF sensor on my '03, I got it from the local dealer (ouch). What had happened is that one of my inner fender screws came out and landed by the sensor, and stayed there until one of the bumps or holes on the Cross Bronx dislodged it, then it hooked into the wheel stud cavity on the hub and snapped the sensor clean off. I disconnected the harness from the ABS computer and ohmed it out.

My tone rings were clean and dry, no problem there. The damage was from outside the ring, it possiby could have happened with the original bearings.

The screw was still sitting there, held by the sensor magnet.

Geno's sells a replacement sensor, but it looks like just a pigtail that would have to be grafted to the original harness.

Grease doesn't affect them... mine are both slobbered in grease.

I had a rock take one out about a year ago... bought from the dealer. I noticed they can be bought from RockAuto for cheaper a few days ago.

130,000 miles break dust, road grime, grease never had ait throw a code. Clean them off and check that there are no breaks in the plastic allowing water in to the sensor.

The end of the sensor is in the grease, inside the hub... grease has no effect on it... the only time I've seen a problem is from damage to the wire or connections... of course if there was something in the hub... that could damage the working end of the sensor than that problem could occur as well... .

The external exciter ring and sensor of the DT kit causes it to be susceptible to small rocks getting between the sensor tip and exciter ring. I have had this happen. I had around 150k on my DT kit before this happened earlier this past summer.

I had less than a year on the kit bu lots of mud and gravel this summer. Steved, you just replaced the sensors and all is well?

You may find only one bad sensor... it will appear cracked upon inspection. Replacing the sensor made everything happy... didn't do anything to reset the light either.
