All,

Thanks for all your advice helping me get this far. With what started as a front left wobble, turned into axle u-joints, hub bearing assembly, ball joints and what will be 6 new tires next week. I'm now waiting for the hub assemblies due here Monday and a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter to torque the lower ball joints.

I hope I diagnosed it properly. I did the steering test while on the ground and saw nothing there. Jacked the tires up enough to get a pry bar underneath and saw movement in one ball joint. The only part that I noticed bad was that one ball joint. Threw some money at it that I probably didn't need to, but no looking back!

Now time to clean up, get ready to go fishing tomorrow and finish off that open bottle of single malt.

Again, Thanks for all your help and enjoy your weekend.
John

Glad you were able to regroup and get u-joints out. I've always been that if you're replacing hubs/ bearings, u-joints should be replaced while in there. If you hadn't done them, ol' "Murphys Law" will bite you!
I used to always use the nickel antiseize, but have move over to copper with way better results! Nickel is fine for something that needs to be disassembled more frequently and copper for longer periods in between. Anything is way better than nothing!
Enjoy the time "off", till parts arrive.

By the way you should use 4wd about once a month for a couple miles to keep everything lubed and in good working order.

If you do not have lockout hubs, front axles and differential, and front drive shaft spin all the time you are driving. What else gets lubed in 4WD?

He has a CAD, the Diff and Driveshaft and the chain inside the TC isn't turnin.

I thought the 08 had the same front axle as the other 3rd gens which do not have the CAD so it would spin those parts,.. I thought only the 2cnd and 4th gens did?
