Can anybody tell me what the deal is with the rattle clips?

There are two clips. One on top and one on the bottom. I did the drivers and passenger side the same.

Because of the clip design, you have to install the caliper top end first because it tucks up under the clip.

The drivers side went in no problem.

The passenger side I just could not get the caliper in at the bottom.

In the end I ended up bending the top rattle clip open in the middle, loaded the caliper in bottom first. and was able to get the top in. I bent the clip back.

Anybody else have any issues with this?

Just did the same kit you did Hoot and I didn't even use those rattle clips. No "rattling" has happened for me.

I'll have to see pics of how you got them installed...

Because of the rattle clip design, you have to load the top in first on both sides. Is that what you experienced Bob?

In this image you see the bottom clip is different than the top clip. It looks like you have to assemble the passenger side the same way. Because the bottom clip has the opening in the center, you have to load the caliper into the top first on both sides.
