Who makes/sells those big A-Team looking bumpers that have the winch built that you see on that earthromer truck in the TDR?

I am starting to grow fond of them. I am sure the price will change my mind however.

Those are from Denver offroad . They are made out of Aluminum and there is an ad for them in the first 20 pages of the TDR #33.

I've had mine for about 6 weeks and love it. It will support a 15,000lb winch too. I'll be posting some pics on Photo point soon but check out this.

Thats mine on the left. My girlfriends on the right. (special thanx for ToolmanTimTaylor the link)

Here is a thread on the install

Ct hooters pics from july

I am very impressed with mine and Layne at D. O. is awesome.

The cost with the brush aluminum finish was about $1400

Reunel Extreme duty!

Ruenel makes one of the toughest bumpers around.

http://www.reunel.com/

They are off with 1/4" plat and solid

bars on the bull guard.

Mr. Ruenel show me some pictures of a RAM

in a head on with a Toyota. Both cars were

on I5 doing 65mph. The Toyota hit some ice

and crossed the center. The two guys in the

RAM had bad seat belt bruses but walked.

The two in the Toyota were air lifted to

spend 3 and 4 months in Davis Med. center.

The RAM looked treaked. The cab and glass

were all in tact but not drivable.

The toyota looked like a pyrmaid of aluminum.

I have their rear bumper and will get a

front as soon as the budget committee

approves. My wife tells me not to hold

my breath. :D

Mactruck,

Nice lookin'... . bumper. Yeah, that's it.

Seriously, though, I've been considering replacing mine as well and really like the lightwieght and simplicity of the D. O. I've been looking at the Reunel, Ranchhand, RoadArmor (love them, but not the price), etc. also.

It appears you do not have a winch. I have no intention of adding one but it seems like all these bumpers are set up for them and therefore stick out a ways. As I remember, there is quite a gap in the top of the bumper for access to the winch. What did you do about that? Does D. O. offer a non-winch version?

Thanks,

Jay

No unfortunately, They do not offer a NON-winch version. The gap in the top took a little getting used to. It only consists of the center area in between the push gaurd. I plan to put an aluminum plate on a hinge so I can access the area and not have the blank hole there. The space also allows me to mount a set of Airhorns in the future as well as an eventual winch. :D The bumper doesn't stick any further than a pushbar would either.

I also have to agree with Dan, Reunel makes a great bumper as well. I have the rear and have had one of their rear bumpers on my last three trucks. My concern with the front was that the weight is about 350lbs. This along with a diesel means you need to upgrade the springs so you don't sag. My Denver offroad is 135lbs. :)

Nice looking bumper!

Anybody have any information on the

road armor bumper like what it is made

out of (e. g. alum or steel). From the

web site it looks a little lighter than

a Ruenel 3/16" compared to Ruenel's 1/4".

I would be intereted in how much it weighs.

Its to bad that D. O. didnt cut holes for fog lamps like the Road

Armor bumber that would look bad as$.

While I have no direct experience with Road Armor, I read a lot of posts on the Jeeps Unlimited website about their customer service (or lack thereof. ) This was about 8 months ago when I had a Grand Cherokee and wheeled it. They might have changed in the meantime.

They did work a group deal for the Grand Cherokee owners who wanted their then-new front and rear bumpers. Most were happy with the results, but a little dissatisfied with the overall high cost, even after the group discount. Gorgeous bumpers, but caveat emptor... ... .

Another factor to consider is airflow into the engine, especially for the automatic transmission crowd. With the radiator, intercooler, A/C condenser and auto transmission coolers all being up front, air flow might become a critical issue if not address by the bumper manufacturer. Just another thought.....

I have been watching for the 'sag' with the Pro-zap and M15 winch I added but in 15,000 mi (35,000 for the bumper alone) when I check ride height with a transit at the bumper there hasn't been any change!! Also on winch toys - just added the Ramsey WIRELESS remote for the Warn (they cover their own, Warn, and Superwinch). Installs plug and play (one groaund connection) except that their terminal pins are just out of spec for the warn socket and had to be 'jockeyed' a bit to connect well. Has a magnetic base 4" antenna to give 50' of range. I put mine inside the bumper for protection and still get more than expected range!!

I have the Reunel on the front of my v-10 4x2. The bumper is 1/4 , the vertical of the brush guards are 3/8, the headlight guards are 1" solid shafting, and the mounts are 1/2 and 5/8. It weighs 335# without a winch. SO, some spring changes were in order. It didn't sag much, but hit the brakes... it dove hard!. In comparison, the factory bumper weighed 27#.

Road Armor makes cool stuff but the company went under and was bought out by Trail Ready because their customer. I would really like one of their bumpers. The Denver offroad bumpers are nice and very light but not as good looking. Reunel bumpers are very heavy and for that reason only I would not get one. The air flow is a question I have had for a long time.

They are the same company.

Air flow issues

On new Ram with a diesel air flow should

not be a problem. According to Cummins

Dodge uses the same radiator for both the

V10 and the Cummins (both 12V and 24V).

For the diesel that means that you have

enough cooling to support the HP generated

by the V10 which is probably a little less

than 2x. One of the reasons why the

BOMB'er have not had as much problems. ;)

I have seen other articles saying that

the bull gaurd of the Ruenel does take

. 5MPG off because of the distuption in

air flow around the nose.

when I looked into these they were more than the reunel. start at $1350 and thats the basic bumper. when you add the brush guard and such it comes out to about $2100 for the front. I'm not sure how much the rear is.

They have a nice set of step bars w/ built in lights. Wheel to wheel too. But they were like $800

Overall the road armor seems like a great product - but for twice the price.

I have emailed Denver Off road about there prices as well and they havnt emailed me back. Its been over a week now.

As I recall, Layne at Denver OffRoad isn't really an email kinda guy. I got a lot out of the phone calls with him, and I got the impression that someone in the office handles the website/email when their time allows.

Layne was really good about calling me and giving me updates as the bumper got built/painted/shipped. He also called me after it arrived, to give me tips on installation. I also got a call a few weeks afterwards, to see how I liked it. I realize he's a bit busier now, but I expect he'll still answer his own phone. :)

Give Layne a call and chat with him about what you want/expect, and he'll give it to you straight. Expect to spend around $1500 for the bumper -- when I was shopping, that was about half the Reunel price for what I wanted.
